well i had the idea to start a directory
but i just wanna know why people bid on paid directories (using phplinkbid) even without pr
if i'll start a new dir why should people bid to keep their links on my first page???
i really don't understand

 

maybe due to the reputation of the owners and the potential the directories may reach in the near future....

or just plain good friends

 

it's cos they trust the directory owner to promote the site and make their investment worthwhile, e.g. http://www.bidforplacement.com/

 

No body makes high bid on PR0 directories.
People only make BID looking at the promotion being done

Seriously --the more backlinks --the more better. I don't think its more about PR-its more about visibility--.

If I had $$$ -I would have advertized on home pages of each and every websites ( yes even Adult and Gambling sites ) so that wherever people go they see my website and visit me and give me $$$$

 

i just had the question in my mind for a while lol there are lots of free dir around however i see people bidding for their links
i took a look at the bst forums i found someone selling a bid dir with pr0 and asking for 500$ BIN i was so confused and wanted to know what special these websites have
thanks guys i think i'll launch my own and hope i'll get some bids with some advertising

 

So does that mean if i start bid directory users will bid even if pr = 0 ? Will also tell me indirectly that i am known lol.

my suggestion is that you start a regular directory....

off all the bid directories running around ive only seen a few 2-3 with a few hundred or now thousand bids...
the rest are in the 20-30-50s or what have ya not.. and what makes you think a seasoned vet like myself
would want to dump a few hundred on a little fishy like you?.... exactly

malcolm has a valid point, which i also agree that a regular directory may be the better way to go for a start, but its your choice

Success is measured by the means an owner takes to get themselves out there, recognized and branded.

 

I'll have to agree with you. Why only directory?--
In real life too --so and so person can start the same business using so and so model. But suceess will depend on the individual involved- irrespective of the place and model.
To be successful with directories -I also agree that success depends on the owner and not the script.

 

Truely agree. When it comes to depend on the directory's owner, the owner(as you are in too), treating this is your products that you are trying to sell, and you want to beneficial to both your products and your customer, and to making sure that your customer pay for they want ( traffic and some backlink quality). And because some of the buyer do notice about there will be an improvement or potential for this directory, and thats is why some ever bid links on those are new or without PR. It is how you promote and work together for your buyer.
