80% drop in pageviews and uniques

    Hey, guys!
I have a, maybe, strange problem:
    - starting 2 days ago, the pageviews and unique visitors for my website dropped about 80%
    - according to Yahoo's web stats(I use Y! web hosting), I have most visitors(50%) from Google. I use Adwords too. The position in Google is the same for all keywords or even better for "kitchen sinks" since yesterday.
    - the sales volume was the same these days, but this could be a coincidence

Does anybody have the same problem or ever encountered it?
I find it really strange that, even though everything is the same, page views dropped so hard.
    Thanks!

Sometimes it's a temporary glitch; sometimes if you change too many pages at once or an IP address...

maybe just see and give it a bit more time. it might come back later. It should not affect you much since your sales still the same. However if the no. of visitor remains low. maybe you need to get more back links and do more marketing. Good luck with your business.

    Thanks!
But I'm really curious about what's gping on. Don't you find it strange that pageviews dropped so much, but I'm on the same positions in Google for all the keywords that "Yahoo web statistics" said that bring me the most traffic?

Maybe a competitor has overtaken you in SERPs so your traffic may be dropping.Do a search yourself and see your current position and determine if its down. Since you say its been two days, can you wait some more days to make some accurate conclusion. Perhaps it only temporary.

No, the SERPs are the same. For example, 'kitchen sinks' moved up a little bit. A little more and I'm on the first page, as I am for 'undermount' 'undermount sinks' and 'stainless steel sinks'

Have you looked at the SERP traffic you were getting from the other search engines such as Yahoo and MSN? These search engines can bring in tons of traffic depending on the term.

yeha maybe just check your traffic stat and see where are the visitor come from and which keywords they use. that might help you to figure out why lower uniques but maintain sales. it also can give you more idea how could you improve your marketing ways.

    Bebicul,

Do you mind sharing your experience of how you managed to get to the 1st page on Google?

Give it another 24 hours, i always have low hits and page views during weekends . Then check again your stats if they have improved or not. Maybe readers of your site need some new content to keep their interest up and come back to digg for more?

I have the same problem, it started about 3 days ago, my page views dropped way down. I have been trying to figure out what I could have done, but I have no idea what happened. My uniques stayed high though, so I guess that means people are coming to the page and just leaving, but I haven't changed anything either.

If the unique daily visit remain the same, i believe those are repeat visitors. They are coming back for new or update info. :)

What web hosting company do you use? I use Y!

I started using G Analytics yesterday, because I still belive Yahoo has a problem with the stats. I have to wait for the next update now and compare it with Y!
Sales are down, too, but it may be because it's Mother's Day weekend.

Check referrer stats and see if your missing any of your regular big guys... If you've lost 80% you'll know who you are missing.

Sorry to hear hope you resolve or it's just something temporary.

If somebody can help me with this:
    - G Analytics says I had 67 uniques today
    - 61 went to "/" and 6 to "/index.html"
    - Yahoo stats shows me 6 uniques for "/index.html"
Ok, visitors came to my website from the same place before(Google). The number, 67, seems about right for a Sunday. But, with visitors clicking the same link in Google, what is happening with Yahoo stats, why are they only showing me visits for the "index" page. I don't think they were doing the same before. I mean, the source for visitors is the same.

I have my own server, run it off a T1 _soon to be moved to a much faster network, but the T1 has enough bandwidth to handle a lot of visitors. I use webalizer and awstats, plus I also use channels in adsense - then I look at all the vales and take an average - sometimes they are all pretty close though.
