It takes two months before you get your first payment. Also the money is dependant on sales or traffic. www.squidoo.com/when has info on payments.
One lens for each site wont work. Here is how you get traffic to your site from squidoo. Step 1. Find at least 100 long tail keywords related to your site Step 2: create lenses for each of these 100 long tail keywords Step 3: plug your site to the squidoo lens either with your feed or a direct link Step 4: Submit the lenses to search engine to be indexed (unlike blogs, SE spiders wont index your Squidoo lens unless you tell them too) Step 5: You are done, you will be getting traffic now. Dont hope for much but it will come as the lenses are rank higher the more traffic you will get.
Long back i've tried it, but it didn't help me. I think it is dominated by the internet marketers. So the freshers doesn't have the keywords.
As many as you can build. I have a few lensmaster accounts actually (it's allowed). I've got them spread over a few different topics of interest. I do have some accounts with 100+ lenses.
It seems like lenses get more traffic (higher ranking) if they are updated frequently. So... What if you made, say 50 lenses about different subjects and updated content on say, 10 lenses per day. Then each lens would have new content every 5 days and stay near the top of the rankings...right?
it's a combo of freshness, traffic, sales, ...etc ... There is much more to it than just the update frequency to be ranked on top of the squidoo chart.
I've got 400+ lenses. I'm not wasting any time updating them. Not unless something comes along that really needs to be added. Spending that time building more lenses, and promoting them. Traffic and sales will have far greater effect than republishing your lens.
First point of call: Why Squidoo If that grabs your attention enough and you sign up then read this: I'm A Lensmaster! What now?
Cool, its nice to hear from someone already doing something similar to what I'm considering... When you say promoting lenses, how exactly do you go about that? With so many of them, I'd expect your marketing is fairly simple (maybe Digg?)...can you give any tips on quickly marketing a lens? Thanks
I've only just started with the Digg. I have been rotating various lens links in my forum sigs (I'm registered at a few forums). If you can write original content you'll be amazed at how quickly you can get indexed and start getting a good trickle of visitors via the likes of Google. I have been involved with web design (though Squidoo is about content, not web design) for 7 years and have a website that's been doing quite well in terms of visitors during that time. And the site stats (such as referring URL's) have been a real education in web promotion. I'm drafting what is turning out to be an incredibly long guide on web promotion. And it'll be coming soon to a lens (well a few lenses actually) near you!
One of my lenses is in the top 10 for a VERY competitive keyword after less than a few weeks of being made. I've also gotten some sign ups for my newsletter through Squidoo. I will definitely be paying more attention to Squidoo in the near future.
Thanks! That sounds similar to what I'll be doing. Are you using Squidoo for traffic to other sites...or are you mainly looking to sell products with your lenses? If so, how much success have you had (what sort of conversion ratios have you achieved?
