On a new site that's been crawled and indexed:

    1) How long before it gets a pagerank?

    2) Assuming it deserves a pagerank how long?

Google updates Pagerank almost every 3 months . (The dates vary sometimes but it's close to 3 months). The next one is expected sometime in July.

Your PR is dynamic and it changes everyday based on several factors but it's only visible to you when it's exported to the toolbar. The toolbar PR is static for 3 months but as i said it changs everyday based on several factors mainly backlinks.

    Reps appreciated.

My new site has no pagerank (it does not even vary day to day) until about 3 months later when Google do a PR update. That's when it starts to get up to PR2

Greenrob, i said it varies everyday but it's not shown to you. What you see in toolbar is a static Pr which updates every 3 months

G usually updates toolbar page rank 4 times in a year . the last update has been in last 2 weeks. you have to wait 3 months more. for this time , i suggest you to build backlinks for your site

just like they said google update PR for the site every 3 months. If you created the site and get enough back links before they update, after updated you will get PR and it will show on toolbars and all data centers. if you created the site after PR updated you have to wait till next PR update till your site can display the PR. (like they said last PR updated just about 2 weeks ago, so basically if you created a sites recently, you have to wait till about end of July to get PR.)

If you already gain backlinks in google you can have PR. Usually google updates every three months after backlinks update PR update would be next.

I agree with the others - Google starts Pagerank updates once in ~3 months, not updating all sites at the same time, but within a time span of one or more weeks. The previous update just happened a few weeks ago, so July should be a good estimation for the next one.

However, when going into detail on this topic, it is important to distinguish between the values Google is displaying through the Toolbar and the ones Google is using for calculations - let's call them internal and external pagerank values - external Pagerank values are rounded to non-negative integer values between 0 and 10 that Google is displaying through the Google toolbar, these are updated every 3 months currently.

Internal Pagerank values are the ones that Google is using for calculations internally, for example to calculate the score for your site - they're typically non integer values from 1 to 10. Google is updating these internal Pagerank values way more often than the ones displayed at the Toolbar, and the changes in internal Pagerank are taking effect on your ranking way before the next update of the external Pagerank values happens.

In other words, Google calculates a Pagerank for a webpage, for example 3.2234 (internal PR), and uses this value to rank the site. For the Google toolbar however, this value is simplified (rounded) to 3 and not displayed until the next Pagerank update (external PR) is done.

    Hope this helped ;)

You'll have to wait for the next PR update.

I'm amazed at the overall incompetence. Yes, usuall PR is exported to the toolbar and directory once in three months, but there was update in the end of March, and after it update in the end of April, showing that perhaps Google has switched to the monthly update procedure.

Yea - it used to be about 3-4 months - but Google has lowered the intervals - i believe it's a month now.

it deponds on your backlinks, if there is very few backlinks then the pr will remain 0, incase you have sufficient backlinks, you will see some pr within 2-3 months of time,

I do not agree with you on the update frequency, Google engineer Matt Cutts has been talking about the update frequency on his blog in the past and I strongly believe that he would have updated us about any significant changes.

Additionally, I have monitored my domains very closely and there has been only one Pagerank update to them since the end of February. I've got 50+ domains so believe me, I would have noticed an additional update.

Well, frequency was sometimes broken in the past, and Cutts was silent about it. Don't always believe it.

I've had majority of domains updated in the late March, and several domains updated in the late April. I can't boast 50+ domains, but I do have two dozens of sites with links built constantly, so... believe me also.
