I'm not familiar with that site, but I've had ads taken down because they have a url that is affiliate related, even though it's disguised by a url shrinker which redirects the link to where you want it to go. Since then, I've relied on Craigslist's automatic email go get responses. It's slow, and the results are not good. I have to come up with something else on Craigslist.
they track stuff pretty quick. I regd some .info domains and used redirects but it didn't help much... 95% of my ads were cancelled within a few hours.
You may talk about spam stuff.. But even my legit ads got flagged and removed quick. I believe there are people there living just to flagg...
What I've done is use the same ad I'm promoting as an affiliate, let them email me through Craigslist then email them the link. It's not as efficient as having my own website but it seems to work, and Craigslist doesn't reject the ads. I'm advertising a product, but through a large organization. My affiliate ID is pretty long, so it's obvious that I'm an affiliate and Craigslist doesn't allow affiliate advertising.
jiminic2, can you advise as to how many geographies you post on and how many ads (per day, per week, etc.) you run and how many emails you get as a result that you send links to? Also, any comments on the quality or conversions of the people that you do send links to? Just trying to figure out if it is worth such an effort. Thanks.
I tried to post an item in craigslist but the email reply from them said "not supported... EncType=3". Does that mean I cannot advertise my handmade stickers?
Yeah Craig has installed a new algo that tries to sniff through spammy posts or promotions more often and using a more stringent code.
I've posted in 4 cities and once a week. You have to reword the ad in each city, otherwise it will get rejected because Craigslist only lets you do one ad at a time at a city. I've gotten 4 emails but no conversions. I'm evaluating to see if it's worth it. My problem is time. I work full time, so I can only put in a few hours a week. It's better to have your own website or domain that redirects to a landing page.
Craigslist does not allow any link except in the services areas. But there are ways to get around this. They don't personally reject most of it, that is done by the users flagging the posts. Some cities are a lot tougher than others. I use Craigslist very regularly with good results, but it doesn't work with all categories, you have to chose the ones that do work. I've been putting tips on using Craigslist in my blog (listed by my DP name), you might find some stuff there that helps.
Flagggers are very good there. My postings get deleted very fast as well. Although, sometimes is also competitors just getting you out of the way.
has any one had any luck with using a redirect type link on craigs? something like yoursite.com/go/aff product. someone on warriors i think it was said that the easiest way to go about it is say in your post to email you for all the details first. then send any links needed in the email. more work i realize but its got to be quicker to respond by cut/past this way than making new ads every time one gets shut down. Any thoughts?
New York, Philadelphia and LA are the toughest cities. If you submit to these cities and your ads appear to be spammy, they won't last long.
Craigslist has been working hard to remove spam from its site. The flagging is actually done by other posters. Anyone can flag but the admin can remove posts as well. To let your post stay, you need a good ad which comprises a good title and adequate description. If you post in multiple cities the ads will be removed. If you post too many, they will as well.
