    I've searched and can't find a thread where a member was showing off a site with an orange right hand border with a wavy edge and integrated adsense ads.

    I thought it was a great example of good adsense placement and want to include it in an article I'm writing.

    If you can point me to it I'd be really grateful, or if you think your site should be used instead just reply to this thread...

    I saw it today and spent some time checking out how it was done. I though it was a great look and idea. However, I have no clue what thread it was in. :(

    I guess I am gonna ask the obvious question. Does this become a violation of the TOS falling under the guise of modifying the adsense code? I realize the add on graphics are outside of the "script", so perhaps not? Thoughts.

    I don't think so as there is no need to modify code (only ad colors)...you are only placing inside a div or something similar with the shape as a background image

    You might get in trouble if it was an animated gif though.

    last night i made a "cloud" shaped border on my homepage.

    It looks very good. Good Idea.
    Are you very sure it is not against TOS? I dont know it. Maybe I will also do such pictures or backgrounds (others) around adsense.
    It looks ok in IE6 and Firefox.

    The TOS are to protect the advertisers from paying for unwanted clicks. So anything that makes the ads stand out without an inducement is going to be OK.

    A bigger problem are the ads that, by clever use of css, are indistinguishable from internal links and regular content. By highlighting the ads users will be aware that the links are "something different" and that has got to be OK, surely!

    Hi Wally, thanks for spotting the fault on my blog. I am looking into it now!

    I think the "adsense cloud" on my site should be within the TOS since it is not drawing undue attention to the ads. AND HERE IS PROOF - No one is clicking on it! :) hehehe ...My experience is that adverts on technology/IT sites get a poor click through rate in any event.

    i tried this before and the ctr stayed the same, anyway i thought it falls under drawing attention to the ads so i removed it, wasn't performing anyway

    using tables to display the ad in this way is a little clumsy. what tends to happen is the ad and the border do not appear at the same time...the border appears first and then the ad appears a second later. if however, the ad is below the fold then this will not matter because the user takes some time to scroll down the page to see the ad.
