It seriously isn't. I got loads of rude red rep on this site...Prehaps it is time to increase the cost from -1 to -3?

Sometimes you stumble with really annoying members, mostly newbies who come around to spam and you really dislike what they post, then you give them some red but annoyances continue and you are unable to give more red until you spread some reputation.

If giving red will cost you -1, then we should be able to red up to 3 times an annoyer without needing to spread anything.

Your greens, your problem turning them red

I quite agree with his point. I have been a victim of rep abuse from a very senior member (just because I was truthful about his service in a thread)...it wouldn't make any difference to him when he gave me red..(since he already has so many rep points) but if I give him red its a much greater loss for me...

Wouldn't it be better to just report the post? So that a mod can give them an infraction which is worse that a red blob.

just because it isn't fair to you does not mean it should apply to everyone else. maybe you really are posting posts that piss people off.

It could be for anything but generally they are given when a user insults another user or spams the forum with an off-topic question or blatant self-promotion. Sometimes the rep system is abused and people give red rep when they don't like what the other person is saying for personal reasons. If that happens try not to let it bother you too much and instead focus on building green rep by helping answer questions or just generally following the golden rule. It's a pretty easy system to understand and work with once you have some experience under your belt.

I have a feeling that many of the people here are well aware that there are trolls around, playing games. The question is, why haven't the moderators or the webmaster stopped it?

Here's what they did (and do) to me:

Omg u need serious green rep attack otherwise ur green blob will go red :D .

Well moderators do not know who rep who, someone once abused a moderators name when giving me rep and it cannot be checked who gave that rep, so i doubt moderators can catch those trolls ;) . After all they are magical trolls.

Rep thingy is not the one which can be reported easily. We must have a report button in or UseCp besides rep button so that we can report a rep abuse...:eek:

only one person can see who has been giving who reps, that's not likely to help.

To answer this question, you can give up to 10 green rep and up to 5 red rep max. :)

As for my opinion, I think the name should be on whatever rep you give. I got slammed on a freebie by red reppers who left no name but I seem to get all the green(grey) rep from the newbies. :D Oh well don;t think it will change the system any.

paidhosting, I read the post you showed the thread for and you are kinda of a jerk  LMAO J/K At least your being noticed !:D
