StatCounter down to PR 9 from PR 10

Discussion in 'General Business' started by Kontent.solutions, May 6, 2007.

As we all are still discussing and guessing what the PR update holds in store for us, statcounter seems to have got its share.

It seems as though the PR of the site had dropped by one point. It used to be PR 10 now its PR 9.

How many of you did notice this ;) ...

Not really sure what PR actually means for a successful company like Statcounter.

But more than statcounter being the subject here I was trying to point out, that even big players have lost a bit on their PR's.

It feels good to belong to the PR 10 Elite class doesn't it :D

The update is partial though, wait for 2 weeks atleast and you may see change.

Pleaseure to have a PR10 ? Well, if you had one you would be attacked and black mailed 24/7. That happens to PR8 sites even.

A PR10 would be beneficial to statscounter.. if you haven't noticed there are links that they sold under the recommended links section..

Not much sign of the link selling crackdown there then ;)

[Although we could start a conspiracy theory that statscounter PR fell to only 9 from 10 because of the links they sold  ]

I'm sure google just wants the PR10 glory to themselves ;)

Hey.. it says recommended links... so... google would need to find proof. ALTHOUGH it's so obvious,... we can only assume..

Hmmm.. they could just be making it tougher to achieve a PR 10.. everyone can easily get PR 2.... people are easily getting higher and higher PR.. so that makes PR10 less special if they don't make it tougher to get there :p

Valid point :) .. I too think google wants everyone to put in efforts to get PR 10 and not just by giving away free service ;) .. Though this is mere assumption, sounds quite logical ..

A few days ago, if any of you remember there the news counter on statcounter said that they were approached by a few other 'spy' companies and Statcounter had promptly denied to work with them. When this was posted on Digg, a few argued that it was not necessary and it was done to get some back links and users to retain the PR and stuff.

At that point, all of that din't seem to make any sense, but now it kinda does.

It's too early to decide on anything. Got to wait for another two weeks before we have the actual results in hand :)..

    All success,
    G

I saw quite a number of downgrades this time. Even ezinearticles. I also got a few sites went down from PR4 to 3. But new sites seem to do well. Got a few 2 month old sites PR2.

It's been a mixture this time.

Nail biting and expecting the next two weeks to get over so that we can be sure of what exactly the respective PR's are :D

I suppose a PR10 is the validation that your website is almost perfect with regards to ranking. Google has up'd it's expectation.
