I have tried this approach for years and it has never worked!

It didn't matter whether it was linkshare or CJ or adultfriendfinder, or whatever.

People click on the Google/YPN ads but never buy with the affiliate links.

I have sent 10s of thousands of impressions at multiple programs and yet nothing.

This approach DEFINITELY does not work for everyone.

It seems it is so much work trying to find the right affiliate program, with the right offer, with the right payout for it to convert.

You don't have to do any of that with contextual ad programs. All you have to do is deliver the traffic.

From my experience, there is nothing easy about affiliate programs.

Good points. I have added some contextually related products to my most popular posts. We'll see what happens!

You've definitely convinced me to try CJ.
I'll just wait until I'm getting more traffic. :)

Use a friend's computer or go to the library.;)

    Sound like advice of merit.

At first, I thought "Hey, I'll bet this user works for them and just posted a fake testimonial"

But the number of posts by your avatar ruled that out. :D

I was on the verge of getting over to check that one out a couple of months ago and didn't get around to it.

I think whether you try cj.com depend on the content of your website!

Isn't that the case with most affiliate programs? lol

You've got to see if anything matches your niche, else it would be pretty pointless. It seems that since shop.com joined CJ, there's a lot more inventory.

Affiliate program is hard to convert, but once you know little secret on your niche, then you'll enjoy much more revenue from affiliate than adsense.

    sundaybrew -
What a great post. So many good points have been made.
You got me up off of my butt. And many others, I see.

I signed up with CJ, and now I am going through all the ads. It takes a long time - there are SO MANY. Still waiting for approval of some advertisers. This is going to be fun, at least for a little while, for certain. Something new and different (to me), which MIGHT turn into gold! We'll see.

My first targets - good traffic pages which have performed poorly with Adsense. It's a no-brainer - CJ gets a good shot, and I improve my Adsense stats at the same time, by removing low-CTR pages.

Its Commission Junction. It has a bunch of advertisers who sell their products by promoting their goods on publisher sites, blogs, etc. The publisher earns money (a certain percentage of the sale price) when a user buys a product from the link of the ad that appears on his/her site. The publisher only gets paid when someone buy (takes action).
