I could use some help please.

When I create a google search box, since my domain neme is long, it looks like crap as in the top picture. I'd like to make it look like the bottom picture, but could not find a way to do it through the google adsense settings. The only way was to modify the code which is against the TOS.

Does anyone know of a way to do this, or if the modification is allowed by any chance?

That isn't allowed according to the TOS exactly, however I wanted to do the same thing with my own search box. I setup a page with a version as I would like it to appear and sent it to G-AS and they gave me the go ahead so I would recommend setting up a test page first online and sending a link to them before you implement it live.

They responded within a day or two, I can't really remember exactly (it was a while ago)

 

I got an email back from Google in case anyone is interested:

not currently an option to shorten the URL that appears for SiteSearch. As
such, we kindly ask that you do not modify the AdSense code. However,
please know that we're always working on new features for AdSense, and
your comments provide us with helpful feedback.
