this person got pissed off...i've banned her 4-5 times now, and now she says she's going to report me to google adsense. i'm not afraid because i haven't done anything wrong (besides the first day where i clicked my ad) but should i email google as well?
Just because someone reports doesn't mean you've done something wrong. G will check it out, and find out for themselves.
but should i tell google that this person's seriously schizo and has been stealing other people's info? (i only tracked her down because 4 of her accounts had the same starting IPs)
Who'se got pissed off, and where did you ban them from? Generally people who make threats don't carry them out. Don't sweat it if you're not afraid. Pete
Google seems to do nothing even when the reports are real. Keep any evidence you have or get in case you do get banned, then report it later.
shameless advertising ahead! http://gossip.bluelaundry.com/ that's the site. they were banned from the forum, cuz she keeps attacking other members (there's a history, this site opened up when she destroyed another forum)
Track her down and drill her knee-caps. Saying that, the forum doesn't look destroyed or even slightly dented by trolls at first glance. Looks OK to me. Pete
most of the regulars know who she is (from the old board) but she's good at causing self destruction, she accused a mod of doing something and i believed her, the mod got frustrated and left (later returned when the situation was revealed)...stupid me, didn't look at the IP
Look at http://gossip.bluelaundry.com/info/rhino/rhinoplasty.htm half way down, note how the Google ads are "attached" to the skull cross-sections. Quasi-legal? IS that her complaint?
Yeah, I'd have a problem with that. You have subheadings, then an ad and then content. Even if it's legal it would piss me off and makes me think your info may be unreliable. The site may not be, but it gets a "made for adsense" look. Lots of people talk about manipulating the ads so that they look like part of the site and there was a great example with an orange wavy border. However the border still separated the ads from the content so you knew which was which. They just looked cool, too. You also have alot of ad blocks on the page. Personally I don't like that. Be careful of being accused of trying to fool people into clicking your ads. You do run that risk. Sarah
her "complaint" is about the purple one here http://gossip.bluelaundry.com/forum/ and guests get an inline ad after the first post, but reg. users don't eta: again this person brought down apsforums.com as well eta: again the sites kinda bare boned right now..it's barely 2 weeks old, and i've never made a website before
That looks perfectly fine, at least I hope so, since I'm planning on doing something similar on a blog.
I do not like the way you force a Google Ad to appear right under the mouse in mid-top center screen and let it scroll with the screen for unregistered forum readers. That sucks! You may want to rethink that approach since that WILL get you banned. (PS - You should remove all posts that say anything but nice stuff about Nelly Furtado)
what are you talking about? it doesn't scroll with the screen there's a top 10 scroller, and it's right under that
Wow. That's a pretty active forum for just being one month old. IMagine what kind of activity you'll get in a year! P.S. Adsense does crazy stuff on different browsers, I've found.
The browser I used was Opera 8.x -- you shouldn't remove the Ads if they work ok for other browsers. I originally thought it was a new way of forcing an Ad but I checked various threads and it only happened with the Nelly Furtado one, which has two images as per your screenshot. It's probably just a bug in Opera. Great idea for a forum, btw. Judging by the activity, I hope you have plans for rapid bandwidth expansion and an explosion of membership.
