Craigslist is basically the only good one....the major benefit is for backlinks

Yes, I would second that to it's great for backlinks and Craigslist is in the top ten in web ranking.

When I was in business online before I had some major luck with http://citynews.com. It's not so much the sales that you get from their ads (which were ok) as it is the fact that each ad that you place is a standalone webpage with its own unique url. For a hundred or two a year you can keep hundreds of pages in place with links to your sites. It was a good way to generate lots of backlinks for cheap when I was in business online a few years ago. The site has been rewritten in php since then.

I placed one ad in the LA seciton and One in NYC. It seems that regardless of geographical area that my ads are turning up listed in the category pages for every city that they target. I'm interested to see how the PR relates back to the two ads which are actually in place and then to my site. Anyways, for around $30 you can have them propagate your ad to around 800 US and Canadian city sites. Beats he|| out of dealing with Craigslist policies.

It's kind of a backwater site with few ads now. Go ahead and throw ten or twenty bucks into a few ads there and see what happens. Craigslist is basically a low end ripoff of this site anyways. Citynews has been around since the mid 90s.

Here is a list of classified ad affiliate programs. I do affilite network markeing so,of course, this is right up my alley. I'm figuring that if these companies are doing well enought to actually pay commissions that they ofer then their advertisers must be making some money. Check them out. There may be some money in running your own classified front selling ads that pay for your own listings.

Craigslist does send good traffic at first but as the week goes on it slows down. You need to repost your ad again to get more traffic.

I have decent level of success with eBay classifieds. A new thing they put up. It's really productive and can produce good results.
