BigClimax.com should I take the 500 & run?

    Hi guys,

Just got an offer of $500 for one of my domains BigClimax.com.
(No, no, no I bought it with a movie review site in mind - ya right!!!) :p :p :p

It's just been sitting at Sedo and is getting some type-ins but nothing dramatic.
I will probably never do anything with it. Have it listed for 1895. This guy just offered me 500 by email. I countered with 995 hoping he would come back and offer 800 or so. He replied, no problem let me know if you change your mind.

Should I have just settled for the 500 or should I hold out for more? What would you guys do???

$500.00 in hand is worth more than $800.00 in the bush.

I think I'd personally take the $500.00, but depends, if you just listed it today and got an offer already, might be worth waiting, but if it's been listed for a long time and this is your first offer, then definately take the $500.00

Depends how bothered you are about selling. If you're not in any hurry and don't really care about selling it at that price or not, then leave it. If he wants it he'll come back with a better offer.

On the other hand, if you just want to get rid of it then $500 is a reasonable offer.

Your after tax net on the $500 is about $325 (35% bracket). The cost to hold the domain is $7.50/yr. If you have money on a charge card balance at 15% that you would pay off with this then your marginal cost of not selling is $48.75 + $ 7.50 = $56.25. So if you think the increase in resale value would be less than that, you should sell.

Obviously, the choices change considerably depending on tax rate, return on investment of the income etc.

you wanna put a website up -- just a couple of pages, then it's worth more than just a name

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Still torn. Don't need the money at all so could afford to sit and wait. On the other hand, since I'm so busy could easily forget about it - not bother to renew it and just end up giving it up and get nothing. Just let a bunch of good domains go that way. My biggest problem is TIME. If I had the time to develop some of my domains I could get a lot for them, since I'm pretty good at SEO. My main biz just keeps me busy 7 days a week.

    Thanks, I will figure out...

Why not work start a partnership with another webmaster, that way you keep the domain but also make some revenue from it
