Why only a few hours to edit posts?

There is 7 hours i think to edit a post that you have made before you can't edit it again.

Why do we have a time limit?

I think it would be better if we could edit our posts without needing to worry about how long we got to edit it.

    Anyone agree?

(Please no red rep :D )

I don't think it should be extended.

Sellers/Buyers can go back on their word if they can edit posts for longer periods.

If a post is there, and they can't edit... no one can lie!

but the problem is that the same Sellers and buyers are given infractions if they reduce the price of their offered services ..

I think the problem is when people reduce their listing (services, etc) by a couple of dollars repeatedly again and again.

    There's no need for that.

If it's a legitimate price reductions (not by a couple of $1 every day) I see no problem and infractions should not IMO be given out for that.

Well maybe it should be like eBay where after the first day, or first X replies, or whatever, editting the post only puts at the foot of the original post whatever is said and when it was added...

    That's a great idea :)
There is another thread on here with a poll to get an auction system started up - but no word from shawn about it, so im guessing it's a no go.

Well i know someone on an smf forum who has to keep editing a post because he adds new and better deals of the product he sells and for some users it would help as they could add new parts to their posts without needing to create a new post :D

I heard that the time limit on this forum is 24 hours.. no? And I think that there should be a time limit, 24 hours is perfect.

Its the decision of mods, when they think the decision is legit, you'll have an infraction and if they dont think, it isnt :p

Yes, its better to have time limit..
Because people keep editing their post without reason..
So 1 person see some post/price while 2nd other and 3rd different.

I think It should be 5 minutes personally ,

This would actually make people think before they posted :)

I'm a moderator on lissaexplains.com forums and the time limit there is only 10 minutes and that causes many double posts.

I think the time limit is 2 hours.

The reason for a time limit is because threads just wouldn't make sense if you could edit posts all the time. For example, if you edited your 1st post in this thread to say, "A mexican monkey ate my science instructer today....". There are already a dozen responses/posts that have nothing to do with a Mexican monkey or a science teacher. It's just the way a forum works...;)

    What a example there ?:D

I think this system work better for us. I think if anyone need changes than he can PM to Mod to make that changes.
