    I am curious...when a member violates TOS are they sent any notification of such or are they just 'bumped'?

    Short and to the point :D ...does anyone really think they deserve better? I certainly read the TOS of any service I sign up for; and it would be hard to make an "honest mistake" with the co-op's TOS being as simple to understand as it is.

    Let me please clarify why I ask. 2 weeks ago I brought an account back here and started running ads. I was online with DP for about a week. Suddenly I no longer have access to the account. At the same time I was having trouble logging into DP's forum and getting a DB error everytime I tried to log in :confused:. So I will assume that my account was banned OR was/is it a DB error. When I enter proper login info I can't get in. I have been a DP coop user off and on for about 8 months and am pretty familiar with how it works.

    If the account in question was banned I don't know why:confused:. True, nobody owes me an explaination. But I am not a cheater by nature, so if there was a ban envoked on this domain it would be nice to know what I did wrong and that I am banned?

    When you get caught cheating adsense you are sent an email telling you why. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT complaining I am just unclear whether my domain was banned or not. It would help an honest webmaster understand the cause of the consequences and therefore learn what went wrong. On the other hand if your blantantly violated TOS I totally agree, NO EXPLAINATION REQUIRED. If your a newbie with significant weight and make an honest error, it would seem that a warning may be more suitable, IMO. It's not my network, so it's NOT my call...Iwill always respect final verdicts brought forth by DP mods/ admin.

    I have about 15 accounts here that have been inactive for a few months. If one of those accounts was banned are all others also banned?

    Either way I don't take any of this personally and can see that the DP coop network is valuable when used properly. Keep up the great work Shawn!

    No, they would not all be banned. There are not a whole lot of reasons a site is banned, it's usually pretty obvious stuff... for example a violation of the TOS (running other ad networks on the same pages, porn, etc.), cloaking, hiding ads (so small they are unreadable, putting them on a hidden layer, making the text color the same as the background, etc.). A few sites have been banned for "bait and switch". Getting an ad approved, then changing the content of the destination to something not allowed (porn, gambling, etc.)

    If you want me to look, post the URL of the site you think might be banned.

    Maybe you're misunderstanding me or I'm not being clear. This site was running in DP a few months ago, then I went to LV (never running the 2 together at all). In the last couple weeks I decided to bring it back to DP so I removed LV code and installed DP code. Since my account appeared to be disabled I just migrated it back to LV, recently. So it is currently back at LV.

    My point is, if I accidently left LV code in a directory I can assure you that it was purely accidental. A few of my sites I inherited and contain many directories, pages and scripts. So I am not really familiar with them. To me a more appropriate response would be "It has come to out attention that webpage.com contains Link-vault and Digital Point Coop code...you will have X days to correct this. If the problem has not been corrected your ads will be permanently removed from the Digital Point Network" IMHO. To my knowledge I have done nothing to violate DP TOS. I simply brought 1 account back from LV to try to the new 'improved' DP network.

    Anyways, if I got banned...no use crying over spilled milk ;). I just don't know what happened :confused:. So can you confirm that it IS disabled and I was banned:confused:. Or is there a DB error with login? I will sleep better knowing :cool:.

    Yeah, I'm showing it was knocked out for that reason (ad network and Link Vault running on the same pages within the domain). If it was a legit mistake, that's cool.. no problem... I can unban it (you might not even care if you want to use Link Vault instead) but you would need to remove the LV stuff from pages you run the ad network on (probably best to remove the link vault files too in case it was left on some pages).

    As far as issuing a "warning" email to sites... It seems like a bad idea to me because the vast majority of the sites banned know exactly what they are banned for. Banning sites would be pointless id you are going to issue a warning to them with something like, "I see you are using a hidden layer to intentionally hide ads, blah, blah, blah..." I'm not really about giving everyone "get out of jail free cards". Then everyone knows they can just do whatever sneaking/bad things they want until they get caught and not have to worry about loosing access to the ad network.

    That's cool Shawn. It's OK if I'm guilty, I'm guilty. I deserve what I get and take the blame totally. It was a ligit mistake, though. But if those are the rules I have to suffer the consequences. I'll leave it at LV and bring another one over that we ARE familiar with.

    Anyway, I went ahead and unbanned it for you, that way you at least have the option of rejoining in the future if you ever wanted.

    There are a couple ways to tell... the easiest is people looking in their Link Vault account at the pages they got links from. But there are other ways as well. :)

    The way most of us are finding them is, looking at a few websites from LV admin, where our links are and see if there are any coop links on it. If the site has links similar to coop, and if they change on every refresh, and if there is a link to coop (because Shawn has tons of weight), and if each page has different set of 5 links, and when you walk through several pages of the website and see a different set of 5 links on each page, it is in most cases coop. We may be wrong.

    At this time, best to report in this thread and Shawn will look at it, worst case scenario, site is not using coop and just LV, and nothing happens.
