Ive been with them for 3 years now and they were good all along the way. Aside from minor hiccups that you would expect at any host.

Yes HostGator is good but their plans are a bit expensive. I have a site which is hosted by them for several months now and I really like their support.

Some hosts offer better plans for cheaper prices (and they have some reputation too).

Check this out to compare HostGator's HATCHLING PLAN (has lower bandwidth and space than Baby plan) with Bluehost's plan.
HostGator's Hatchling plan offers 50GB Disk Space for $6.95/month while other hosts (such as bluehost and lunarpages) offer 300GB disk space for the same price. :D

I didn't measure it to the tenth of a per cent, but their uptime as much as my alerts indicate is very good.

Almost any good host like HG will try to control the amount of resources an account uses on a shared server to ensure all are served well on the box.

Hostgator support isn't always great, but I'm still with them. There are plenty of worse hosts out there (never use powweb, micfo, unithosting, globat).

V7n is about double the cost but worth it in my opinion (I have two acocunts with them).

A small orange can be less expensive (or more depending on your plan) but they have email only support (have an account with them too)

Lunarpages is in the price range and they're good. I don't think they have unlimited domains though. I have an account with htem too.

Bluehost is a bit cheaper but max of 6 domains I think. I have one with them too.

Splitinfinity is good and around the same price as hostgator. I think they do unlimited domains but check with them.

Basically, I think you'll be OK with hostgator but if you're willing to pay more for better customer service you might try v7n (not sure if they do unlimited domains). Also check out splitinfinity.

If you go over a little bit they don't mind that, if you really go overboard they will charge you for one hosting plan above you, or the one that fits your use.

You can ask all that at their site you :p
