I thought that when I first read your post. People here are not your average forum users. You really have to earn your reputation here... literally.

The first week I posted here I was like -70 in the hole =P

Now personally I think what your doing is pretty narcish and if your trying to justify it with money... well... most here will not be impressed with a 250$ check for so much work.

What is the big deal? I love when scammers get shut down...it means more money for me hopefully if this scammer was in my niche.

Just because he got rewarded financially makes everyone want to beat the $250 out of the guy.

Granted he only has 91 posts, but still...

I understand what your saying... When I first read it I figured it was some spammer wanting to sell his software though.

I mean I can give myself a amazon gift cert =P

You will still have negative rep if you didn't create all those shill accounts with proxies and rate yourself positive. I know your game shoemoney! You can't fool me.

Also if it reads like a sales pitch...then it is a sales pitch. If doing the right thing is the reward then do the right thing and offer your software for free.

The software has nothing to do with this. I'm sorry I even brought it up. The main purpose of the software isn't even to use it to report Adsense cheaters...

If I had just said "I used some software I created" and didn't add the link, the next post would have been someone asking "What software is it?" and I would have had to post the link any way.

    Oh well.

The whole point is this... you can do something about Adsense cheaters. Everyone always complains that Google doesn't do anything. Well we were only half right... they don't do anything unless it's the sponsor complaining.

I didn't see this as a software ad. You aren't going to get a check from an advertiser every time you are out trying to stop fraud - and if this story is any indication, you'd have to find an advertiser who spent several hundred thousand a month to get $250 - not a super likely scenario.

Turning in the fraud monger's and getting their accounts suspended is a good thing. If someone really wants to reward you it (and it certainly won't be every time), then that's just plain nice of them.

If a bunch of people start trying to turn in fraudsters as a result of this story, then I say great! There have been times when I spent significant money on adwords and now I will be more careful and spend a lot less on adsense based ads (as opposed to search results). The better Google's fraud prevention reputation is, the more revenue adsense based ads will generate.

How did you know that? On this particular situations? Or there is more like this?

You made a weapon but it is in wrong hands or it is used in wrong way.

And what you talking "this is not about money"? Your thread is called "How I got paid $250 for reporting an Adsense Cheater!"
You didn`t called thread "I made a good thing for publishers and for all people in the world"

Have you ever tried reporting an Adsense cheater? There are a few posts here at DP where people have complained that they reported sites to Google and nothing ever happened.

In this case, I emailed Google multiple times over the span of a couple weeks and nothing happened. And this kid was blantantly asking his friends to click on his ads.

I don't think I made a weapon... I think I used my head and figured a better way to report Adsense cheaters.

And how can it be used in the wrong way? If you're cheating Adsense, and you get reported... oh well.

If you're not doing anything wrong, and you get reported... nothing is going to happen.

I doubt as many people would have read a post with that title... that's why I picked this as my title.

And one more time... this isn't about the software program. This is about a tactic people can use if they want something done about an Adsense cheater.

Sorry, i never trust any website which has a text starting with "dear friend". All of "get rich with adsense without [insert something boring here] everyday!" sites are using same methods to sell something.

Story is good. Thank you. But it has nothing to do with it.

I agree with T0PS that we are all selling something so that part doesn't bother me. If you have a good tool, then why shouldn't you post about it (even though you are saying it isn't really a part of the story)

I also agree with nevetS that getting someone removed from AdSense that is blatantly cheating the system is a good thing.

My thing is that I don't know if Google would look favourably on this. In this one isolated case maybe it is fine but if you start talking about everyone contacting publishers to tell them they are a victim of fraud, Google will come down on you like a ton of bricks. I had to opt out of the content system because of low CTR but I don't know how I would feel if when I was still in, people I didn't know were contacting me on a regular basis telling me I was a victim of fraud. Chances are the ad would be different when I went to the site.

I think in principal it is a good thing but I tend to think Google wouldn't view it that way. It would only take one complaint from an Advertiser to create trouble. There are 1000's if not more scamming adwords in a similar fashion. If you started sending emails to all the *possible* advertisers, it would create anarchy.

Maybe that is what is needed but I sure am not going to test it out. And if you value your own accounts you won't either.

This is just my opinion and this is actually a pretty good thread. I have nothing against Nate so I apologize if it came across that way earlier. I personally think though that you need to be careful.

Google doesn't do anything about adsense cheaters if you contact them directly...there are many exact cases, and you can find them by searching DP for "adsense cheater".

Feel free to play with that line. Just be awful confident that the advertiser on that site is not an advertiser on any of your own sites.

In my opinion it is not worth the risk, and I think Google really doesn't want publishers talking to advertisers.

Edit: Which by the way means if you are in adsense and adwords, you can not talk to yourself, ever.
