Google PR snapshot date was...

    I'll linkbait you and make you go to my site...

    No seriously checked some popular blogs like we did in January when the last PR update happened.

    Look like it happened on April 2.

    April 2nd blogs on Cutts, SEroundtable, searchenginewatch HAVE PR
    April 3 don't have PR

    If I'm wrong let me know.

    FYI to newer DP members-
    The PR update that is happening is actually a picture of what the internet looked like on April 2nd. Google takes a snapshot of the web (all those links) and than they run the data through an old IBM PS2 286 desktop thats sitting on Matt Cutts kitchen table. That info is than exported (at a later date) to the toolbar and the various data centers.

    So why is the date important?If you got links after this date they will NOT help you with this PR toolbar update. They will help your SERPS etc but not that Big G almighty toolbar number that will be flashing in your face for the next few months.

    One more special note The site would have to have been cached (visited) by Google for your links to show. If you got links on a site on March 30th but Google did not visit the page until April 7th (one example) those links will again not show up and therefore not help you in this update.

    yeah i just started buildng backlinks this few weeks so i dont expected My pr will increase though. but yeah those might answer many people's questions about PR update.

    Tradeya..maybe u didnt judge the date right. Honestly pilling up those link building exercises at the end of 3 months cycle isnt good.

    Now start doing it from day 1, will help you gain PR

    That would be an awesome SEO experiment. If you knew when the snapshot happened and you got 500 links. I don't think that would look to natural but it could happen with a popular Digg story.

    Its been discussed that G gives more weight to older links so in theory all those naturally occuring links (surely not paid!!!) that everyone gets on DP are more valuable once they are well aged.

    thanks mate. honestly, I never thought about building backlinks before but my site got pr 3 for no reason since Dec update. for sure i will try hard from now till next update let see what would be the result. wish me luck.
