As mentioned on a blog post I read earlier this morning, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) tracks way more, and if you disconnect your modem for a while and/or disconnect from a dialup connection, your IP address may change so Google wouldn't keep the entire record if you didn't have an account. Meanwhile your ISP always knows who you are, so if you think about it Google really isn't doing all that much.

I don't care if Google knows what I've searched for. I haven't searched for anything inappropriate on Google in my life.

Unless your a terrorist or pedophile I don't see why anyone should ever worry about this.

If I am looking at normal adult porn I am proud of it.

It's called personal privacy and my right to keep that private and not let anyone who wants to know all my business. What is scary is people like yourself and others in this thread that think this is OK and no big deal.

Also what I don't like is that if I am logged into Google Webmaster Tools or have recently logged out of it and I go to Google Search I am instantly logged in using my webmaster tools cookie and have to manually delete the cookie or restart my browser. This is a huge pain because I definitely don't want my searches tracked and logged to my account that has all my personal info and it is easy to forget and miss that Google has done this.

I don't think if there is any truth in it.

However, the fact is that google have the personalized search history online which means if you are logged in your search is recorded and available for you to review/recall or delete your search history.

    I really like this tool.

I'm not saying it's okay to do this. I care about my privacy and I am constantly logged into Google since I have adsense and gmail and whatnot, but they don't really have anything of interest to share about me because I don't go on anything inappropriate or of concern.

Actually I look at it as a perk, a benefit, I never used it before, and now I can go back before my history on my browser and find stuff, plus it travels with me, man thats cool.

Besides, they tell you about this when you install the toolbar don't they, I know there was two modes, and one was something to do with tracking, so I guess I opted in right?

I agree, I fully expect the government to track terrorists. So let'm snoop away.

You're probably one of the 28% of the people in America who still think Bush is still doing a good job.

The worst thing about this is that they interrupt the privacy of everyone of us, i know its a really good search engine and well known but... thats no reason for spying us. Its not really a problem for me because i dont search for really bad things, the worst i've searched for is porn but anyways i dont like people i dont know to know what the hell i do...
