I have noticed on my end that all my new sites that were created in the last three months have achieved high PR yet nearly all my existing websites droped a rank. One big surprise is one of my PR5 sites that for the first time in 4 years has gone down to a PR4 and this site has PR 6 backlinks from Microsoft, Yahoo Directory and multiple DMOZ listings BUT I did have one established site (3 years old) with a PR1 that achieved just one new backlink in the last 3 months and it went from a PR1 to a PR3
so i think google definitely change the way to calculate PR. Maybe backlinks is not the main factor now
Well I totally agree with you that New sites got higher Page Rank while older one is droped. I don't know how Google count it.
Why you said like that? For many people is PR important, and i don't know why can someone tell me about it
I have noticed too that many sites PR went down, lets hope that they will bounce back. PR update is not over yet.....
A new site of a mine had a page land on the homepage of Digg.com. It's PR 6. Some of my preexisting sites that were PR 4 and have tons of backlinks have fallen to PR 3. I think Google is making the requirements for PR higher because there are a lot more sites than there were when big G first set the guidelines and because it has been so easy to get a good PR just by buying links.
Most, many of high quality sites are degraded at leaset with -1 PR. Perhaps new ALGO. Some sites got + 1 PR and some got from PR0 to PR7 a kind of lottery This woudl mean about 80% sites that was PR7 are now PR6 ... Sites that was PR8 are PR7 (80%) ... And sites that should be PR7 (from PR6) got again PR6, PR9 are PR8 .... This is my "humble conclustion" This means a new "SEO WAR" don't give up, but smile This is not the end of the world, but it hurts :-(
Yeah but I bet God has to search in Google to find out! Back to the point though; yes most of my established sites have held their own or dropped a level, almost as though Google have raised the bar by half a point or something, ie if you were PR 4.8 (say), you're ok but if you were 4.2 then you're down a level.
I noticed this too, big established sites loosing -1 PR, maybe Google is making it harder to get High PR as people are now manipulating it....
