    To make it short:

Adsense: hight relevance of ads, huge amount of advertisers, world wide available, crappy payout, system is abused and they do nothing about it.

Ypn: beta testing, horrible ads relevance, high payout on some niche, available only for USA traffic. Actually they are rather messed up. Pity.

Screw adsense. It's a no win situation with them. As your traffic increases, they reduce your pay per click. The longer you use them, the lower your revenue. In short, they suck. I wish they collapse. YPN anytime until I get terminated.

When you have more traffic, they'll give you more over-sized CPM ads that cover the whole ad unit. Your CTR will then go down 50%. I think they're doing this to encourage small websites.

I'm looking for an alternative, I've had it with Adsense's crappy 2-cent clicks.

My new prospects are TLA and Azoogle (they have "guaranteed highest payouts" although I want to know more).

I tested bidvertiser for 2 weeks as geo-targeted ads to display outside the USA.
9000 impressions, 0 clicks. I shut it down.

9,000 hits with no clicks. I think somethings wrong here? I used bidvertiser and my only complaint was that they don't pay for impression.

YPN was good for my old gaming site, which brought in a good $200 a month, it served somewhat relevant ads. It was pretty good actually, but you can't rely on YPN all the time...

Google adsense is pretty good actually, just don't get depressed if your earnings aren't as high as you expect them to be. Just live with it. Some webmasters can make a living with Adsense or YPN if you can't then find yourself a real job.

AdSense has a whole lot more ad inventory than YPN. In the beginning, circa late 2005/early 2006, YPN was paying a whole lot more on less clicks and lower CTR than AdSense. Then it went down and up again early this year. It's a big see-saw ride with YPN.

AdSense has been performing a whole lot more consistently for me. In my experience, there were only a few niches that worked well for YPN. The ad targeting was horrible and never really got better. If I were you, I'd stick with AdSense.

There are also many other alternatives out there. One that I've been testing is Miva which isn't that hot but I've only recently started and have only got it on a couple of sites. The bottom line is, keep testing and see what works best for you.

I said 9000 impressions . meaning ads were shown 9000 times to about 2000 unique visitors and I didn't have a click.
