No, it will be on the home (for a limited time ok) but it will be on the post page too, a permanent URL. + in the archives (by date, categories, tags...) :)

yes, but in the eyes of google, it will be a moving link shifting its position/pages :) and all the other links in archives/categories etc. would be duplicate links (within duplicate content) ;)

    Still don't agree ;).

The post URL is permanent (permalink), it will not move, shift, drift or whatever.
The others ones (from archives or category pages) are just bonus, even if Google discard them, it doesn't matter, there is at least one link from a permanent URL, usually (if the blog is well SEOed) very well linked from others pages.

No problem, I too am still in disagreement ;)

this situation is beneficial only when the first apperance of the link is at the post url itself and not at the home page (which is not the norm with blogs) :)

Also, assuming just for the sake of a bit of agreement ;) that the value of both the links are equal, all indications are that the blog links are heading for devaluation in future - so I would still prefer to get links from regular sites (if I can) :)

I think more relevant content is the key.
