Unlimited BW Host

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by officialboss, Apr 26, 2007.

    Hello,

Would anyone recommend a good host which offers unlimited bandwidth and a large storage capacity for large files, like video.

I was looking at Site5.com, they have a $5/month if paid 2 yrs in advance with 5TB bandwidth. I was hoping to find a good and reliable host with unlimited bandwidth.

    Thanks
    Jes :)

For $5 you won't find any host with more than 100GB bandwith, except the ones lying like hell.
Buy you could find some dedicated hosts and pay $150+ for 2500GB bandwith

Yeah, you wont find any unmetered host that really puts out.
Your best bet is to go to a good rep host offering 2-4TB. Most ones offer around 3tb now with all the fiber upgrading going around.

However if your gonna use that much bandwidth for videos you might need to have a dedicated due to the cpu and ram usage.

I don't think I will be using that much to begin with but as my project grows I would have it when needed. Actually I don't know how bandwidth is required if I am streaming video, I know that it can quickly add up with several users viewing. Thanks for you input.

You get what you pay for. There's no such thing as 'unlimated bandwidth'. For a cheap price like $5.00 a month, a host will quiskly dump you when you start using up 'too much bandwidth'.

yep i agree, if u go for cheap, your likely to find your host to be slow & un-reliable, with little to no support.

i would rather pay double the money and know my host has got my back if the server fails or i need something installed, rather then taking the cheap route and realising in 2 months time i need to upgrade to a better host.

For the n00bies, that isn't unlimated bandwidth! For example, an unmetered 1Mbps connection gives a maximum transfer of roughly 400Gbytes/month.

You fail to mention what type of unmetered....1, 2, 3, 5, 10, etc MB

as Nintendo said above...it makes quite a bit of difference (though $10 is good for any of those)...i'd be wary of the cheap offers for reasons everyone else has already stated
