Still Not Enough

Let's assume that I have a website and I want to rank #1 for keyword "XY". I submit to article directories, directories, make link exchanges, find some partners, but still no #1.

Link directories, partners, link exchanges and article directories provided me the anchor text I wanted "XY".

Now what can I do ?

No where in there did you mention anything about optimizing your own website...

If you are competing against sites which do double the work you do, then they will do better.

The only thing to do is to work harder than them.

Note: assuming all other factors are equal.

I highly doubt he meant 'XY' literally...he wants to keep the exact keyword a secret ;)

Its not the number of links but the quality of the links.......you might do the above and have more links than your competition but if they have better quality links then they will be ranked higher.....plus they are many other factors such as whether you have a penalty, on page seo, originality of content, domain age.....literally hundreds of factors go into ranking

You need to be patient and work hard for it. Remember that you're not the only SEO who wants their site to be on top of search engine.

Is "XY" in your pages title tag? And at the start of the title?
