don't know abt the UK domains, but the .ca (canadian domains) are only for canadians or for businesses in canada ... the canadian government controls their distribution. I presume it might be simliar for the UK.

I think it's more lenient with .co.uk but don't quote me on that

Yes, there is no restriction over UK domains, the only requirement is pay two years registration, renewable in similar periods of time.

Not necessarily, if you register a UK domain with a UK registrar each of them have different transfer fee, plus nearly 49 GBP that Nominet charges as administrative fee.

If your domain is registered under an American registrar the transfer is like any other but paying for two-years instead of one.

So you're saying that with Godaddy, if I sell a .co.uk, there are no other fees I have to pay, but when I transfer, the new buyer needs to add another 2-years rego onto their name?

It all depends. Some website can provide this kind of domain name registration. as I know, http://www.plusregister.com can register this kind of domain names .besides this, the domain name is also in a reasonable price. You can show concern with this website. GOOD LUCK!!:)

I remember transferring my .co.uk domain name from GoDaddy to Namecheap and there was no additional fees apart from the 2 years renewals. I guess in the end it may be the Registrar which depends what they want to charge for transfer fees.

Pat transferred me a UK domain early this year simply using push from his GoDaddy account to mine.

No fees were charged except that I need to renew the name for two years this upcoming October.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but when "splashkid" said that you had to pay $70, that was the 1st time I heard about any fees being involved for a sale of a .co.uk name
