Google traffic disappeared?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by TwoToofs, Apr 24, 2007.

I have a site that was getting good traffic from google up until about 3 days ago and it just suddenly stopped. The site isn't banned and is still indexed but about 3 visits per day from google is it. I'm not looking for someone to give me a definate answer just for some comments or ideas about why this is.

    Thanks

    Never heard of sandbox?
I think it'll be back sooner or later.
    Just wait for it.

This may be due to losing some rankings for your key prhases. I lost some rankings about 10 days ago that haven't returned. I've exeprienced this before at the longest about 2 weeks and they came back. Of course there could be many reasons why you have dropped in rankings, but generally if you've been steady for a while and you suddenly drop and haven't really done anything chances are you'll come back within a few days-weeks. Again unless there's no other reason such as sandbox, etc.

This happens every now and then, specially if your site is new. So just wait and it will be back to normal.

Does your keywords still remain on it's position or your keywords rankings fluctuates? Try to improved your rankings and do other alternative to get more traffic by forums posting related to your site, blogging, joining social bookmarking sites, and etc.

Keep building links and quality content. For a new site this is pretty normal.

My 6 year old site... started dropping a few days ago and today, just flat-lined. WEIRD. Never had this before. My keywords, all gone.

    UGH. This sucks.

I have exactly this same problem with one of my sites. About a week with very low positions on some optimized phrases... Probably because some of low quality directories. If this is not temporary I will never put any of my links in any messy, low quality directory, even they will pay me for it...

Ouch. That must hurt. Have you kept up on link building or has your site just enjoyed the trust from being old?

It's a real site. A useful site... it is not a Adsense only site. Just a regular site... but we get a LOT of traffic from Google... and I noticed today that it seemed almost like a ghost town today.

Oh well! Hopefully its a temp thing.

5 days ago all my keywords dissapeared from SERPs for one day, came back for one hour...... then the switch went "off" and "on" again. Ok.. i thought, finally we are back to normal. Well here it goes again last night. All vanished. There must be an algo switch going on. 3 months ago it happened right before the backlink and visible PR update.

Oh, by the way, the backlinks and indexed page count change every day for me this week (googlewise). I am not kidding. As somebody posted before, it's a huge storm. And what can we do against the nature of G. :)

If it is really your problem then what would stop your competition dropping your site into bad neighbourhoods?
