No? So it's the named updates that'll do that? The Bourbons, Florida's, etc? How often do those come around?

No, Google constantly updates internally. That is the only update that moves or really means anything.

Ive had sites with 0 pr outrank pr4 sites for terms.... then when a public update happens it will be a 6 or so. Google is ALWAYS updating.

If your sites are going to move they are moveing now. They are not waiting for google to update the toolbar ;)

See, this is why I wanted the forum vets to chime in. Now I know not to bother waiting for all these various updates. Thanks, shoe!

Well I am not really a vet. People like DigitalPoint, Compar, Minstrel, Sitetutor, Yfs1, Fryman and others could probably explain better.

Even though the bl and pr updates don't move the serps, they can still be helpful and reassuring (sometimes).

As someone new to most of these, I could use the feedback.. kind of helps as you try and to determine what is most effective, at least from a pyschological standpoint. :)

It has been awhile since an update, so I'm ready like you to see what's going to happen. I sure miss the once a month update, days. That was more fun!

If you're talking to me, I never "had a go" at anyone. If not, then nevermind.

I think Shoemoney has hit things on the head with his comments...

From my perspective G's update does only one thing...possibly change your pagerank. Which can make it easier to trade links with other sites.

Outside of that the updates don't mean much to me. Google's already taking into account all of your BL...even if you don't see them.

    My 2 cents,
    Allen

I think Google did get a little shocked by Yahoo taking the top spot in numbers of who has more pages indexed. Shortly after that Yahoo announcement Googlebot started going crazy on my server with several sites. I was forced to get a reseller account to distribute the load a little bit. One AWS site is currently using 1 GB bandwidth a day just for Googlebot.

I think we will see some major (publicly visible) Google update activity early on in September. The empire will strike back soon .... ;)
