Looks like no updates of any sort for August, do you think? I was hoping for something. A PR update, a backlink update, a wholesale update -- ANY kind of update, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. As I understand it, Googs does most of its updating mid-month, so now that we're almost at the tail end of the month, is it close to a given that August will be a wash, Google update-wise? Any thoughts on this from the vets in the forum?
its been quiet because the google staff team spent august celebrating my birthday with me and are all suffering from hangovers
Google will try and make a bang, maybe they are increasing there index size to get in the news and beat yahoo, maybe they feel asleep. And "Tocoolforschool" be nicer please
Heh, well, in my defense, I didn't create the thread so some smart aleck can come in and post something stupid that only he thinks is funny. The question was serious, after all. Anyways, back on topic...
Actually I thought it was kind of funny... But seriously, don't sweat the small stuff. Google does what it wants when it wants. Keep your eye on the big picture and just keep plugging away at promotions and new site content. You will learn much more after an update happens, then worrying about when it's going to happen beforehand. Before I got any sites up in the serps I spent many a day checking stats, serps, updates, yadda, yadda....now I know all good things come in time. I only wish I hadn't wasted so much of it.
I'm new to this (sorta) but given past history of updates doesn't Google like to do updates over long weekends, like Labor let's say?
I guess I'm just overly anxious because I just got unbanned earlier this month, and the way Googs is crawling my site, I have my fingers crossed for some kind of major/minor/any movement in the SERPS/BLs, etc in an upcoming update.
I have a 301 in waiting, actually 2 301's ... I don't normally care about the updates so this whole waiting thing is driving me nuts. BTW, could GBot be crawling harder to get there index pumped back up? I have also recorded record numbers for GBot and was delighted but now I wonder about it's intentions.
Google has overtaken MSN's bot in about a week's time on my server. Crazy. Now I just wish it would show up in the SERPs. I'm getting some nice positions (sometimes on the first page) but more often than not it's in the 4th or 5th or sometimes even further down the pages. But still, I'm ranking very high in their region specific SE's. It's just on the main google.com that I don't seem to have moved very much.
I was just looking at the update list http://www.seocompany.ca/pagerank/page-rank-update-list.html And if nothing happens in August it will be the first time in 2 years that an entire month goes by with out much happening. Hmm.
Google has taken out pages with high paying keywords (worn out) from the top and replaced it with pages of my site which have now higher paying keywords (before not so much).
No one works on Labor Day weekend right!? Let's hope Google does... I saw some movement in MCDar's Data Center Watch tool last night but to be accurate I have ben seeing small movements for a couple of days now. Something really stranged happened to my main site last night, I was poking around my homepage which has a session counter on it and all of sudden I had 490 visitors which I knew was a bot of some sort and it turned out to be a combination of GBot and Slurp both of which are putting a smack down on me today already... GBot 996 page views, 35.86 M Slurp 410 page views, 24.47 M These bots are brawling in a cage match here!
I noticed this as well. Ive been waiting for a BL update and have seen no changes at all. We can only sit back and wait though. G works on its own timeclock.
You know the public update is just... a public update right? Your site is not going to move based on the public display of backlinks, pr, or indexed pages.
