    Hi there

I own and run the UKseries.com suite of sites. Thanks for the mention, Tim...

What's all this stuff about AdSense police....??? We are in regular correspondence with Google, and have been granted special privileges that are not afforded to entry level AdSense publishers. We are fully complying with them. We had to make a very slight tweak to our original version (details of which I can give, if you're interested) but FWIW, here's an extract for the latest piece of correspondence we had from Google:

(I appreciate it should read "good", not "well"... I've just copied and pasted what was sent.)

Hi everyone... first time poster, been reading awhile, and I enjoy all the great Adsense tips by everyone here, and enjoy the extra dough made by the tips also.;)

I was just thinking that the Ukbed site must have premium publisher status to have ad units that have only two ads and no url showing.

Aaron - are you a "premium publisher" - or did you just contact the adsense team and make special arrangements to make the changes you made?

    Good works !!!
What type of web management software/system do you use for your sites?
I'd like to create a web site structure like you...
    Thanks

I don't think I am classed as a premium publisher, no. At least, when I last looked, we didn't reach the requirements set out for being a PP... but, as I pointed out before, we have been granted special privileges by Google that give us greater control over our AdSense.

If you're referring to our sites that come under the UKseries umbrella, then we're using a system that was custom-programmed in-house, specifically for the purpose of these sites (and some others).

Thanks, Goose... I notice those that were about to report me to the AdSense police have gone awfully quiet... :)

at the end of the day... is the advertiser and the person clicking the ad getting value for money?

On Aarons sites I would guess that they definitely are... site and content - very congruent so the clicker will find more information related to his search and the advertiser is happy to have a relevant and interested punter.

This is no different to how advertisers contest for offline media attention in a niche magazine... lots of different tactics are used...

    standout
    blendin
    give something away
    etc

as long as everyone is getting value for their $$ then it works and is fair.

Thanks again, Goose... and yes, I think you are right and that we are giving the advertiser value for money.

If you take http://www.ukhotel.com/cumbria+lake-district/bowness+windermere.html as a typical example page, the ads that come up are highly relevant and provide just as much information (if not more) than the genuine links, on exactly the topic in question.

The matching isn't always as perfect as on this example, but it's generally pretty good throughout.

very very nice the ones of ukSeries, genius i would say! that's what i call inspiration.
A powerful example of an inner page of ukSeries would be this one I think.

Now, take a look at this:
    http://phpfreebies.com/free-clickbank-search-engine-script.php
at the bottom, sometimes, it shows only one ad, but with a huge font. I don't think I have seen it before.

Thanks, jorge... :) And yes, you're right... it's almost when we have less of our own content (as per your example) that it works best.

As you'll see if you read the entire thread, we've been granted special permission from Google. Sorry, but I don't think I'm allowed to go into the details - I have only stated that we have been given these privileges because we were being falsely accused of cheating with AdSense and threatened with being "reported". *Sigh*

I fully understand,i did not want you to give information that is between you and google.

I realise that to use code that changes text size would be against google t+c
i was just interested how that guy did the single advert when i could not see any other script called in the page source.

Yeah, I've noticed the same font size increase at the bottom of the http://www.phpbb.com forums.

This one's pretty crazy...they seem to have pulled out all the stops: 3 ad placements, ad links, dynamic google image search, search results, RSS feeds...the mind boggles.
