Google Announces Plans to Track Everything You Do On The Web!

Google's Search History feature, which was switched on as a default option for many Google searchers in February, has now been renamed Web History to reflect how it has expanded to track what Google users do as the surf the web.

And now people are using Google for e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing and just about everything else. Google is going to know about everything you are doing.

That's pretty dirty and invasive...then again, we live in an age where a company can do a full background check by simply paying $20, and seeing your auto accident history, previous job discrepancies, credit history and other violations of privacy :(

Well I am here without G toolbar. I use Opera so no toolbar for Opera. Even I have no G toolbar in IE. So at the moment Google can't track me. :D

Yes, I think that George Bush owns a lot of stock in Google, hence the invasion of our privacy.

I've boycotted Google. I uninstalled my Google Toolbar. I've started using NetVibes for my RSS subscriptions. I've switched away from gmail. I've started using Yahoo to search. I no longer visit YouTube. I pulled AdSense off all my sites.

They are a horrible company and I refuse to give them any traffic (ad impressions) or another cent. I've also installed adblocker so they won't get a dime from me.

Stop using Google now before they have you by the throat. They are the next Microsoft, only worse. Google is big brother, and don't let them fool you. They are the very epitome of evil.

No. I run Windows and Linux. Hell, if you really wanted to get away from monster corporations you'd have to throw out your computer. Intel, AMD (ATI), NVIDIA, and VIA chipsets and CPUs, manufactured by companies such as ASUS, Gigabit, ECS, EVGA, Mach Speeds, and MSI. Everyone of those companies is a huge corporate beast. Running open source still funds these companies through your hardware purchases. I personally have no qualms about buying or using a product from a huge corporation, just as long as it's in my interests to do so. With Google, it goes against my interests to support their company, and so I refuse to do so.

I wouldn't have a problem with Google except they're directly attacking a large part of my business model by actively opposing paid links and with the steps they are taking to punish both the buyers and sellers of paid links. I just watched tons of people get banned from AdSense due to someone unleashing a bot against them through Proxy.org, and despite all the evidence that it was an attack, Google still banned them. They just got caught stealing/pirating a database in a commercial product, and now they're going to track everything I do? Screw that. Google has horrible customer service, treat their AdSense publishers like criminals, and want to either control everything I see on the internet, or at the very least keep track of everything I do, all the while they directly attack a very profitable source of my income. What I want to know is after all that, why should I use their service? Because everyone else is? Because their search results are better (which after using Yahoo for a few days I find to be a misconception. Yahoo's results are fine.)

Large corporations and monopolies are quite different. Wouldn't it be fair to say that Microsoft is the monopoly and not Google (yet), but you're okay with using MS products but not Google? I would expect you to boycott MS before Google at this point.
