Does your income come purely from adsense or does it come from other affiliate ads on your content sites? Based on discussions in other threads it looks like the majority only rely on adsense served on their sites for income. Is there a reason why people don't also have affiliate links on their pages for products that can bring them double digit commissions per sale? I am genuinely puzzled. Thanks in advance.
I'm around $10 per day with Adsense. Realistically, the traffic levels for that much aren't enough to drive good affiliate sales, as they're un-targeted to a degree
In this adsense section, a lot of people earn most of their income from adsense. But take a look at the affiliate section and see the other side of the coin - lots of people do very well form affiliates. Which works best depends on your site and what the visitors are looking for. If they are looking to purchase a product or service, affiliate links probably work best. If they are just browsing and have no intention to spend then adsense will usually do better. I've not had much success in increasing affiliate sales on a site that does OK for adsense - I think the site probably needs to be a different type of site to start with, with a different focus, different kewords, and more product focussed. If your site is about 'sony digital cameras' you should try and sell them, but if it's about 'the history of the Crimean War' stick with adsense! I'd be pleased to hear if anyone has successfully turned a site from adsense income to affiliate income to know if I'm wrong.
A majority of the people earning that much do so from adsense or YPN. Those earning much more will eventually diversify into olther programs., but it tends to be those who earn subtantial amount from adsense first.
My earnings are from 7-25$ per day and only adsense. Adsense is fluctuating a lot for me. And I'm totally agree with frankcow, it is very little traffic for affiliate earnings
We use as many possible combinations of ad channels as possible, AdSense, Bidvertiser, Text-Link-Ads and good affiliate products and service offers. Putting ALL your eggs into one basket may, and often does cause problems at some point.
DIVERSIFY!! These are what earns for me in this order: Adsense Kontera Subscriptions CJ Clickbank Azoogle Adbrite (one) other affiliate Ypn I could probably do much better with the affiliate, CJ and ClickBank, but i dont want to turn my site into a 'spam farm', and I'm not that great at pushing affiliate's anyway..
Thanks everyone for your responses so far! Tearabite I just read your other thread on making 1000s with just one site. Do you still have just one site and if I don't mind asking, how many pages does it contain? It's interesting that adsense earns you more than other affiliate programs that may offer much higher commissions per sale. When it comes to getting paid per click or getting paid per sale, paid per click wins I suppose!
I have 2 sites (was 3, I gave up on one and let it go) and 2 blogs. Only my "main" site generates any earnings and 98% of my "website time" is spent on that site. Currently it contains around 5,600 pages according to Google.. PPC is much easier.. but PPA (comission) pays better if you invest the time and know what you're doing.
I've tried CJ and Clickbank but they just don't work for me. I get most of my money off Adsense, used to I mean, since my website is ad free now.
I tried clickbank on my proxy site, and it converted a couple times. I think it's important to know who to target.
I use affiliate link ads and have set them up to look like google ads. True that I'm not getting paid each time someone clicks, but when I make a sale the commission works out probably a little higher than I would have gotten paid in Adsense for all the clicks.
to be successful as affiliate marketer, i have to develop a strong base of fans interested in exactly what i sell. There is no point in trying to randomly selling something different in every pages. If you have at least 50 unique visitors a day (the more, the better), and your site deals exclusively with a certain type of product, clickbank, amazon or cj will put more money in your pocket. to be successful with adsense too you need to go niche, that is at least a whole section of your site deals entirely with a single product - say Window Blinds or SEO Service. If you can tunnel any one niche successfully, the next thing you can do is remove the adsense and fill in aff links. affiliate links perform better if they appear within content articles, or just below blog posts.
I am getting smartpriced massively lately. I want to do some experimenting on what I can earn with other networks.
