yes it is, but look at this thread
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=298055

how many infraction should mod give out. I don't care if they run up their post, but it is just painful to go through all those meaningless crap. Most of the first 20 post is meaningless. Post #21 have some value. However, it got push to the second page because all the "thank nice tip" post are up there

I don't disagree that the thread contains frivilous atta-boy comments.

But, isn't disingenuous for Digital Point to retain these posts if they are of no value?

Deleting the post is but three clicks on vB. To add an infraction, it is at least four.

Furthermore, once the post is deleted, the presumed "post count boost" is gone.

Additionally, it would reduce such future infraction not only by the offender, but new members too.

When someone joins a forum it is rare they read, and comprehend all the content of the Terms of Service. Most new members, I believe go by reviewing existing posts, ergo by example, and post accordingly.

If they find sufficient amount of frivilous (but not to their knowledge) posts, they are more likely to post such message. They go by example.

Remove the "bad examples" and the new members have no "bad reference" to use.

I hope that made sense. :p

Nopw i want to know why cant we have a thread of just the ripoff artists on dp? Its not fair that they go ahead and keep ripping off people and be allowed to post. I bought a site in pm's here when it wasnt doing what that person claimed it was doing i returned the site but never got my money back.
We should have a list of ripoff artists and allow these scammers to rebuff these accusations.

I think the moderators on these forums should be a little more leaniant on threads being posted in the wrong categories. This forum is pretty darn big and it makes it hard to figure out which category some posts should go in. I received an infraction because of this and it was either a mistake or I thought my post was actually in the right category.. So I think that's a little unfair.

I know that you say that most threads in the wrong category will be moved without any actions against a user, but I still got an infraction. :(

Just a suggestion and some feedback. DP rocks! :)

it takes a little over 3 minutes to find an online mod, write a PM asking which category is best, and send it.

Honestly: I see nothing wrong with giving an infraction, because all it is is a warning.

Posting stuff like this in the Google forum will get a user infracted. The description of what and what does not belong in that forum is pretty clear.

I got an infraction for telling someone I sent them an email regarding a sale they were posting as proof in public it was sent. Reason given? Posting to raise my post count. Of course this was in error but I have no idea who gave it to me and no ability to remove it. Not that I'm losing sleep over it but nobody cares to have any black marks against them as a matter of principle.

Having been on here for 3 years I don´t like all of the new rules, but in the grand scheme of things I see the necessity of them.

Yes, i'm guilty for not searching for it. But there's 0 point for that. There's another 2 'red' infractions and i'm waiting for it to expire.

Blogmaster, how long will it take to expire?

Anything between 1 week and 6 months. I have 0 now, but had 8 at one point. Trust me, as long as you take it as a warning and not as an insult, you will be alright. :)

Wow that's quite a list for infractions... but, I guess if you read as to why it was put in place, it makes some kind of sense. I myself hate having to go through pages and pages on a thread only to find "cool" and "lol". What the heck is "lol" anyway?
