# 3 in G

Today one of my search phrases moved up and now the site is at # 3 in the SERP. This is my first success to be in top 5. Ok so you all might think how do you define success.

Stats:
Results 1 - 10 of about 9,820,000 for ....... (0.13 seconds)

It took me 9 months to be at # 3 (9 months from day of launch, and the day I started SEO/SEM on the site).

Is this good or do some of you have better numbers, meaning, much higher competition then what I have and in lesser time?

I am currently working on some KW, Phrases which are definitely tougher, much higher competition - my goal is to beat my current goal (time frame wise - not SERP - I am shooting for top 5 and not # 1)

Look forward to some more helpful and insightful responses besides "congratulations" and "keep it up"

Sometimes the competition of a keywords doesnt always reflect the traffic you'll get from it. It's always a good feeling to unearth a low competition high traffic keyword.

Anyways, do thorough keyword research and don't be reluctant to change your plans if the results are not what you expected.

I didn't ask for an exact keyword, what I say is that if it's something like "cheap ebooks and freebies" or I don't know something of that sort, then it's not an achievement. I've seen dozens of threads like this one, where people celebrate being on top 10 for phrases like above.

But, I'm sure it's a good start, especially considering that it's out of 9,820,000search results.

btw whats the keyword? how many searches does it get per day?
if it has got Zero Searches then #3 spot is of use

Congratulation You deserve it.

But frankly it took too much time IMO. It should have been done in 3/4 months time. NO ISSUE though.

This is what I am curious of. How do people shoot up in such short time? I haven't replied other posts because traffic is not of big concern, whatever traffic I get - I convert visits in to sales. Traffic with less competition but highly searched KW - definition would be niche and this post certainly isn't about niche.

For me right now, I am just trying to figure out what has been commented by jhnrang. Again, my goal is to rank high in SERPs in short time frame. I have already started working on different sites - been about a month already, some pages list at # 1 spot but KWs are searched probably 50 times a month (no big deal here), but the phrase that is searched almost 500 times a day - this is where I would be interested to rank my site in top 5 with in next few months.
