Everybody has his/her own website development and link building strategy. I have posted mine at:My Link Building Strategy

What do you do differently? I know my strategy may look quite different to you, so do share yours.

I've been using Matt Callen's LinkMetro to exchange links with member so there's not much of a strategy to speak of, at least it can help achieve a PR3 easily.

Of course if the site has some undesirable content then I'll reject their link exchange request. :)

Whilst link exchanges have some use, i would only recommend exchanging links with highly targetted, relevant and quality sites.

The key imo is a few select links, it really is a case of quaility over quantity!

    Great article, thanks very much

I wish I had something to contribute but I do more or less the same but not in such a structured fashion. I've never submitted to the expensive directories though, and I don't ask people for reciprocal exchanges - never seems to get very good results for me.

I'd more or less stopped submitting to free directories but perhaps shouldn't have. I have recently started paying for occasional blog posts which seem like the way forward.

I plan to try your structured approach with a couple of sites that are 'in waiting' at the moment.

    Thanks again

What I do differently: I don't have a battery of directories at my back and call...

If you have any other website (and a links page on it), then use its PR power to get links to your new website. Else, its very difficult to get link exchange with webmasters. :d

Thanks Jim for sharing - it's not too often that this much detail is offered. Everyone seems to do things slightly differently. I'm still learning so can't offer any advice except that anything worth doing takes effort and having a strategy is a must.

Quite inspiring. I'm a very impatience person though, I don't think I could wait that long.

Thanks for posting your strat Jim. I'll be implementing much of it I'm sure (probably not as rigourously as you do, but bits of it over time).

If one (or some) of your website is already earning you some money to take care of your needs, then you can surely give websites the time they need.
