Yes. I would strongly recommend SMF over phpBB as well.

Yes its free and all of their mods. I would suggest using SMF over phpbb because of the default build in features.

My vote would be for phpbb - best support I've ever seen, and massive selection of mods & skins. That's not to mention the amazing features coming soon in phpbb3 (beta available for download)

well phpbb can tackle with SPAM too. There are a few Mods which can handle SPAM very well.

I prefer phpbb on anything coz they have good number of features disturbution as Hacks. Templates is another good reason.

Plus I myself provide Complete SEO: phpbb2 installation with 13 SEO Mods

So what else anyone needs. ;)

can anyone recommend a decent site for themes for phpbb2? i'm finding a lot of resellers of templatemonster.com's products only.

phpbb skins -> two best places would be phpbb.com and phpbbhacks.com

    if you're thinking of phpbb3, then startrekguide.com

phpBB has my vote. I can't stand SMF and will never post on a forum that runs it. MyBB is also nice, but phpBB has outstanding support, a great modding and skinning community and phpBB3 is great.

Well I'd say SMF sux ... it lacks good templates, Mods, no good SEO support ...

its like a little kid stand in a pod with cup of lime juice :D

I dont like it and I dont recommend it to anyone. There is nothing you can do with SMF as like phpbb. Moreover you can edit a complete theme for phpbb and its easier than SMF.

I have been on SMF offical forum. and guys it feels like an alien. Damn ;)

phpbb rocks. and the new phpbb3 beta is good.. but remember its a beta and there is no support for upgradation of phpbb3. so, I prefer phpbb2 over phpbb3 ... But SMF .. Never :D
