What criteria are you using to assess the 'worthiness' of these directories

Ooops-- I am doing great without even visiting any of the directories (except Yahoo --but it was for another reason) mentioned.

Check Aviva's strongest directory list--you would be much wiser.

5 of the directories he listed are 7.5+ on avivas list and the other 2 are 6.5 and 5. What would he be wiser about since aviva lists them as some of the top directories (which is exactly what he is saying anyway)?

Which directories are these? Surely the most important factors in a directory are traffic and page strength, how many directories can you name with more traffic and page strength than the ones above, just interested.

Yes you are right in that these are the most well known directories, but that doesn't mean there the best,or value for money

For example starting point I look at there categories directory and there is no pr,ok pr is updating so it might be that, but It's not even in cache, so from a submitters point of view what value would I get from submitting to them?

Next one I look at was joe ant, one click from home page into computer category, and It has pr4, which is ok but there are ppl that have had a directory for as little as 8 months and can match that, me included:D

So yes they are well known but value for money no well not with the ones I just said anyway.

Edit:Actually I just looked at joeants prices and are pretty good so I take that back about value for money

I don't rate Joeant my detail page is supplemental so is my category page:

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-50,GGLJ:en&q=seoco+joeant

No sign of any PR even 1 or 2 levels up from my category, well and truely burried, I'm suprised the links even got spidered, Starting Point doesn't give you any anchor text choice which makes it less beneficial, Aviva and Alive should certainly be on the list.

thank you for the reply, I will check those out.

not really, are you trying to increase your post count with worthless posts like this one? thanks :)

weren't you doing a web search there rather than a directory search though?
