Over Infractioned?

Ok, well I guess I am hanging onto DP with the skin of my teeth, it seema that I get infractioned... ALOT! I have never received an infraction at any other forum but I am getting spammed with infraction emails here at DP.

I have gotten an infraction for "bumping" a thread when I was posting new information, and couldn't edit my original post.

I have gotten an infraction for posting "if the buyer needs someone to code it, I can do it" on a template thread, where one of the bidders asked if it was coded (the template wasn't thus I posted)

I have gotten an infraction for saying "now thats a shameless plug" in a thread where the OP posted about RapidShare, everyone said that RS was all warez and pr0n, and one dude posts his filehost link (from his signature) and says "this filehost doesn't have any of that"

Here is what gets me! One of the infractions said "
Running Up Post Count" are you kidding? I have 1,800 posts or something I don't care if I get one more or one less.

    I have a couple others but w/e I don't care about those.

Another thing, it isn't just people like me that are "normal members" I mean, krakjoe, probably one of the most helpful members on the forum got banned!
I, and plenty of others who frequent the PHP forums have him to thank for getting us through some tough PHP stuff, and how does he get thanked for being helpful? he gets banned!
If I may steal a line from "Head of State" - That ain't right

So, I am all for infractions, but could we please make the system a little more lax? and please don't ban people that are extremely helpful, and a great asset to the community.

(I will probably get an infraction and a lot of red rep from this, but trying to be helpful through criticism)

Why would you get an infraction for this?

You have 5 points. You will not be banned unless you reach 10.

Just because a member is helpful, doesn't mean he doesn't have to follow the rules.

Also, "running up post count" is actually "Running Up Post Count/Post Has No Value"

Ok, so saying "now thats a shameless plug" has no value, fine but come on you know that is a legit post.
Look around here, 50% of the posts have "no value" that doesn't mean ban em all

    You're not banned.

You have five points. You've been getting infractions every month since we implemented the program. You're not going to be banned unless you really step it up! :D

One of your infractions expires in 6 -days. :p

ban isn't permanent (unless you're nothing but a bloody spammer). so krakjoe will be back. he probably reached his 10 threshold.

and as for your post, i'd PM the buyer offering to code it for him instead. i'll explain in the PM that i'm not spamming, just offering to help, and don't want to post in that thread.

Please teach me. I have infractions worth zero points.

    - Unless you reach 10 infractions points, you wont get banned here. And if you reach, just take a sound sleep for 3 months and then come back again:D

If 80% of the posters are getting infractions, maybe the problem isn't the posters....Maybe it's the system...Must be. I don't see how 80% of members could be wrong, maybe the moderators are just too touchy. Maybe too many people are brown nosing instead of speaking how they feel about this situation. I know that I get fed up with getting red reps(I'm sure I'll get a few for this) for sharing my opinion. I have yet to see an overwhelming sense of community at this forum. Maybe it should be a consideration to try to move things in that direction.....Well, it's just a thought.

Geez consider infractions a Badge of Honor. Or a big DP tattoo. You've been tagged numerous times from DP Mod taggers.

They enjoy, you enjoy it and the other users enjoy it. It is fav past time here at DP to see people squirm because they got an infraction. And yes seeing people get infractions and to have them complain about it is real entertainment. Just look through all the threads talking about infractions. And people jesting, snickering.

Heck I got kicked a few times and heckled at for screaming: INFRACTION, INFRACTION. So I went to my little corner in DPland(my user CP) and cried and wiped my tears. And than went back and postes spammy spam all over again in hopes I dont get caught.

    Live and let learn.

    80% the members? Says who?

Besides, we all know The Pareto principle (80/20). :p

How exactly do you know if you have an infraction? Automated Email? PM? Profile display?

    Just curious.
