Let's make our own Online Payment system that works like PayPal and allows payments from all countries.

Members of Sitepoint + DigitalPoint + other forums, it's time to work together !

Getting a payment processor up can be a very expensive adventure and a lot of legal and financial issues to tackle. Then there is still whole 'trust' element.

Ask the payer if he's ok to use Western Union to send you money. There should also be other traditional transfer ways to transfer money to your country at least from the UK.

I like em so much because of the pre-configured accessibility for merchants. also the freedom to receive "real" CC goes a long way.

I'm the buyer actually. I tried to use my friend's service, he's in germany, but the seller won't accept it, guess he's afraid using 3rd party.

Should I use Western Union? But I heard WU is much more insecure than PayPal?

When you haven't got too many choices, you have to go for the expensive ones as a last resort...

Paypal needs to protect its own members. Opening up to too many countries may open many new can of worms. It is just unfortunate that you come from a country which is not Paypal approved as yet.

Western Union is unsafe for the sender but very safe for the receiver because when the money is sent, Western Union's responsibility is done. The sender cannot ask for his money back.

With Paypal, the customer still can dispute the charge and would most likely get his money back.

Incidentally, maybe you can sign up with http://www.asianpay.com , I believe that Indonesia is accepted and their rates are pretty much like Paypal.

    Otherwords:

    - use Western Union to receive money - you don't pay any commissions for receiving, no risk of a chargeback
    - use Paypal to send money - you CC is safe and you can always file a dispute if the sale goes wrong

    :)

Axlarry, you are buying the site. Indonesia is an accepted Paypal approved country which allows you to sign up and Pay using Paypal. You can always just verify your account and get it done and over with. The seller just wants to deal with you and only if you have a verified account.

Dealing with a Unverified Paypal account is very risky.

    eddy2099,

No offence to you, but there is no evidence or research to prove that. Only FUD and lies. I despise that lame concept on so many levels.... If it were true KFC, Royal Bank and Insurance companies would not do business over here.

The truth is that PayPal can afford to be lazy since it has no competition.
As soon as Google annouced Google Checkout, Paypal allowed 70 countries to have one way payments.

PayPal's inability to do business with the rest of the world is cliquish and unprofessional.
