FriendAdder was also closed down. Bye, bye bots...
To be honest, until now I never used Myspace. I created 2 profiles, but never finished them. Seeing that so many people was spamming it, turned me off.
I know how to market, and the best ways to do it, but in Myspace... well... I have better things to do.

and that's why this whole thing sucks b/c "it" (marketing) worked for some and not for others. I just used it for my photography to be honest.

now everyone suffers, artists, bands, entrepreneurs, and well the spammers/phishers can burn in heck for all I care.

did anyone catch Tom's announcement from this am or yesterday? something like "their filter is almost in place that'll root out the funky comments that render the comment page unreadable except for the offending comments"...

is that all their big filter will do? I thought they were going to be able to nix the 5 most common spams I get everyday, 5 spams times 8 times per spam = avg of 40 a day for me. that'll teach me to whore my profile :D

It's always like that, in everything in life. For some people's mistakes, all pay.

I never got a chance to upgrade to BadderAdder 2.7 before it got shut down (I'm still on 2.6). Anyone know the easiest way to upgrade now that the site is down?

would it really matter at this point?

I don't even know if 2.7 would work!

hmm, well as of right now (v2.6) it's having problems logging in to myspace and I'm guessing 2.7 addressed those problems. But that's not to say that myspace wouldn't just change their login process one final time to make 2.7 useless as well.

    that's what I'm thinking!

you know the kicker? it hasn't slowed comment spam 1 bit! I still get 40 a day on my main profile. bugs the shit out of me whereas before I could have sworn I got less per day! how is that possible?

MySpace sucks and now is a joke as well.

I still see about 5 profiles a day that are obviously created for the sole purpose of phishing. Why the frig can't they do anything about that???? Too busy trying to extract their heads from their asses I suppose

yeah, with all their big changes, I'm sure they've all hurt small-fries who aren't doing anything wrong. Bands, etc. It's been said before. The big boys will know how to make their traffic look really, really legit.

    The greedy spammers suck.

    Bot developers(spam enablers) suck.

I think most spammers (who really need to rely on the software for income) develop their own scripts. It's more reliable.

Making your own script doesn't justify the intention of the script. It just means that you(the script writer/user) has a serious direspect or your fellow man and a grevious diregard of ethics.

wtf... can you chill out. i'm not sure what
    and
are but i am sure that you do not understand what ethics are.
    ~insert slam~
The word ethics stems from the 2 greek words Ä“thos and ethos. One word means character and habit, and the other is Pursuit of (Happiness).

The Athenian's gathered several people that they though lead very fulfilling and happy lives and listed characteristics about them. They eventually listed the characteristics as the Ä“thos, a list of ways to live so you can become happy.

Today the word ethics has been warped and misconstrued by Realtors and doctors into doing the right thing, but it simply means what you must do to become happy. And if people are happy making money by spamming myspace then I "ETHICALLY" support them.

Haha.... to both posters above me...

I don't know who "you" is, but you shouldn't be referring to me. Perhaps they have a disregard for their fellow man, but I wasn't even talking about that. My point (which has been stated ad nauseam here already) is that banning a bot like BadderAdder, etc WILL NOT stop the really "big" and serious spammers, it will mostly harm little guys, like bands, and many people who use the bots in ways that HELP myspace (accepting friend requests, etc).

I'm not talking morals at all here, really. So far MySpace has just made moves that harm little guys. That's all I'm saying... no need to get angry about it.

that's my biggest beef too. so far in my estimation they are no closer to stemming the tide of spam. it was bad enough that they made the new limits 7 friend request, 14 comments, and 1 email before your account got frozen ;)
