A Google update on its way?

Since 2 days now, Google is crawling 2 of my sites like crazy. Yesterday it was about 300 pages, today 150 already an it's 9:30am only.

Yesterday I looked at the cache and my home page was cached Aug 8, 2005 around 6 GMT
today the cached page says: Aug 9, 2005 03:01:22 GMT same with several sub pages.

Anyone else seeing this activity? what does that mean? BL update?

Perhaps they try to get even with yahoo and need more pages to list.

Google has gotten 19 GB so far this month on a site that is no more than 6000 pages for me. I'm not sure what they are doing. In this case, it is a site with a site map.

As of Aug 4th I have been getting alot of Googlebot visits. My site is around 1k pages and Googlebot visits about 14-35k pages a day ever day since Aug 4th.

So yes I am getting alot of google activity to, dont know if its a BL update, I know I am seeing alot more pages indexed for this site.

Fingers crossed, maybe out of the sandbox soon.

Update to the SERPs is usually what they are talking about. I also have seen alot more site crawling from Googlebot.

Why is it that every time Google does a deep crawl everybody and their mothers come out of the wood works and post........

"Google is going to do an update"

I believe we are due for some kind of update but these are NOT the determining factors:

    *Deep Crawl
    *The Position of the Moon
*Yahoo announced a new product (OK..... maybe this one) :D
    *Your palms are getting itchy
*The physic friends network confirmed a Google update
*Someone named GoogleGal posted on a forum that nobody visits and announced an update

It's not necessarily a sign of anything other than Googlebot is active on the sites mentioned (presumably this is a change for those sites?) and that Google is adding more pages to it's index.

I'm seeing similar activity although the pages being added are not new ones. With the exception of a short period in early 2005, Googlebot has shown high daily activity on my sites for months -> years. As I think Shawn or somebody said above, Google is always updating... sometimes we see more evidence of that than at other times.

Does the apparent increased activity mean that something like a PR update (Toolbar PR) is imminent? No. Not necessarily. Or not necessarily soon as in the immediate future.

No... that's pretty much a continuous process.

People usually mean an update to the number of pages indexed (as shown by the site:www.yoursite.com query) or a Toolbar or Google Directory PR change.

Guess so... I've been monitoring a new site I have and was frustrated at only seeing one page indexed. Today it is showing 180... same thing happened to most of my sites.

You know, this isn't intended as a shot, but I'm always puzzled when is see a post like that... "expected more" PR or whatever...

    Why? Based on what?

Usually it's someone saying, "My site went from PR0 to PR2 in the last update. I was expecting a PR5 or PR6"... Why? That always sounds a little like saying, "Santa was good to me this Christmas but I expected more... I was actually hoping for a Ferrari but I do really like the socks...".
