Does one's website move gradually or eg. once every 2 months in Google's rankings?

Hi everyone,

When Google finds your backlinks and evaluate them, do you immediately move up or down in Google's rankings? Or do you need a PR update first? I know the toolbar ranking only changes once every few months... And why does google hide some of one's backlinks because Yahoo shows that I have 109 inlinks (some of them are on PR4/PR5/PR6 pages) while Google shows that I have only 28 inlinks (on low PR pages). My current PR is 4.

Google only uses some backlinks for rank. Yahoo and msn allow alot more.

Rank will increase with each new link found. You can not get hundreds of new links to a site in a few days or you might have problem with google.

They do not like sites that suddenly get hundreds of links. Build your links slow so you have no problems.

 

There's many factor consider in ranking a site. Using keywords as anchor text and the number of backlinks might affect rankings.

It only shows certain backlinks, I dont know about Google only using some backlinks for rank though. They should be using all of them to my knowledge.
