Hi guys. I read that its possible to get a US routing number in Banks which have branches in USA like HDFC, Citibank etc. According to what I have read, if we get a US routing number then we can directly transfer our amount from paypal to our local bank account. Does anyone here have any details about this? Its weird I never saw this being discussed on DP before.. Please reply here if anyone has details about this. Thanks, -- Naif
yes that is possible get the money like that... It is advised that each time u do transaction like that just give a single call to the bank u deal with and get the Remittances code of your bank ...I repeat each time.. bcoz it changes time to time...like in hdfc follow the link and contact branch.. http://www.hdfcbank.com/nri/remittances/europe_quickremit.htm
Hi phd. Can I ask what remittance code is? And is it possible for everyone to apply for a routing number? I hope its not a hassle like it is to get a credit card here....
Remittances are transfers of money by foreign workers to their home countries. You need to have a code (swift code) for HDFC /other bank , having an account in Bank of America / (Or other US bank) The HDFC will provide that swift code + method to deposited the money (in USD) at US/Other country... and that will be directly transfered to your account...Pl contact branch for further assistance...
Alright phd, thank you for your help. I'll approach a nearest branch asap for more info but I would like to ask one last question. Which bank do you recommend? Citibank, HDFc, HSBC or any other..? Will rep you for the help you have offered Thanks, -- Naif
it won't be possible with sbi i guess!! am planning to get a hsbc account now, please update this thread with the information you get from the banks about the routing number!! though there is no citibank in ranchi yet!
HDFC currently offering 1000 usd per day (I think, not very much sure) yes surely as uttoransen said Sbi has great service..
I am confused. Uttoransen, your saying it wont be possible with SBI (as I can imagine, its an Indian bank) and phd, your giving positive comments for SBI? So is this possible with SBI It would be great if I can do this thru SBI because I already have an a/c there.
is routing no. & remittance code are same? do all indian banks have routing no.? do we need routing no. to get money from foreign bank to any indian bank?
