Pls talk me out of buying targeted traffic

Hi, I have a new site which of course is not receiving too much traffic and have been tempted to buy some targeted trafffic to get the ball rolling.

Has anyone had experience good or bad with buying (targeted) traffic? One site I liked the look of was BlazingTraffic.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks

By me buy me meaning buy trafffic from me and I will hit your page as often as possible but what will you have of value? I am highly skeptical. I also will also be happy to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge but buyer beware there may be a slight problem with the title.

    Good luck,

Wht not look for a popular non-competitor website in your genre and look to advertise there instead, valuable targeted traffic that way would more more beneficial IMO.

Thanks for those replys. Yes I'm a skeptic too and I also am not too into the non competitor site advertising because it's only one site.

Has anyone had experience with buying targeted traffic. Did they receive it? Was it just page refreshes with zero activity? Are there any reputable traffic companies out there or is it all just a myth?

I tried it once. I think I paid $3 for 1000 hits. Didn't make a cent off any of the 1000 hits (but they were all unique )

I have not done this but if I was going to spend money in an attempt to drive traffic I would try adwords. Before I did this I would want to have a serious talk with a successful adwords user.

On the free side of things you could see about exchanging links with suitable sites, or working on three way link exchanges. These take time to develop but are probably more meaningful in the long run.

Is your site indexed by the big three - Google, MSN, and Yahoo? If not that would be my first priority. A signature link after 10 posts will get the ball rolling there. There are down sides to signature links but for indexing purposes they are ideal. Do not expect to make post number ten and immediately set up signature link. Wait an hour or so for system to update post count and then come back and set up signature. You may already either have a signature or the ten posts but I can not see from here.)

May the traffic gods smile on you.

Don't buy bulk 'targeted' traffic. You will most likely not get one single conversion. Use the money to start a small adwords campaign.

Thanks...yes I'm indexed by all three engines and nearly all my pages listed in them thanks to site maps etc.

The reason this is in here as you quite rightly ask bassman, is coz I have adsense on my site but I didn't really want to come out and say "does buying traffic increase adsense clicks?".

Ahhh... then your answer is probably not - or else we would all do it. ;)

    Hi fellow kiwi

I assume that you are..and living in ibiza! :)

To be honest buying clicks for advertising [adsense] is really a cost vs ctr equation and nothing that anybody can tell you.

I would not pay for that if I had the skills to get more traffic on my sites [which I do] but I would learn that skill sooner rather than later.

    Good luck

    Fellow Kiwi

If you want to pay for traffic, try AdWords and see if you can make more than you paid (short or longer term).

Many of those companies that offer it actually just display your website in a popup or a popunder and count each view as a unique visitor. One other crappy service from Bravenet for instance.

    Thanks for all tha advise.

I've started receiving the rewards from all the links I've been swapping and from directories etc plus I've started a small adwords campaign which is really what is paying off the most.

I bid very low on a word (without any competion) that brings lots of vistors related to a keyword which pays very well (for me anyway). So thanks again.

As a new user, this may seem totally silly to the forum members but it is a cunning method I use that really does work... Write a small descriptive PDF File or article related to what your website is about, add the relevant URL Links etc. (make sure they link correctly as has been emphasized earlier!) and then save your file several times naming each one with the name of a top searched for keyword for your particular site i.e. if you had an Auto Trading site then write an article and save it as "auto trader" or "buy cars" "sell cars" etc.

Then comes the clever bit, using a program like limewire or winmx go to your library or share file section and allow these files to be shared, believe me you will be amazed at how many times your keyword will be searched for, you can monitor the results within your program also!

    I hope this helps?

As a newbie, I am very open here to be slaughtered by everyone  so please slate me or make your own suggestions in response to this accordingly.

Take Care and the very best of luck with gaining the targeted traffic you deserve....

I had two sites a year or so ago, one was for unique watches and the other for legal care/advice, the traffic was solely brought into both by Adwords, it would in general make money on a daily basis but not much and I was in two minds whether to keep them going in the hope that the more hits they brought in would bring more in return over time, in the end I had no choice in the matter when I went to the Coast for a week, came back and my Adsense account had been closed down, I was informed that in the past 4 days thousands of illegal hits had come in and they naturally assumed it was my doing!!! I hadn't even seen a computer for a week! there was absolutely nothing I could say to get the account opened up again, it was quite shocking just how ruthless Google were with that, I imagined a similar Character to Judge Dredd was behind it, someone got out of the wrong side of bed that morning and decided they were going to be the Judge, Jury and Executioner! :(

I sincerely hope this has never or indeed will ever happen to anyone here who makes a good living from Adsense, I haven't gone back to earning from Adsense since as it just isn't worth creating an account again, and I don't think I would be allowed to either!

    We live and we learn!
