What is the maximum period that a site can take in sandbox. I have a webiste optimized 4 months before but surprisingly it still in sandbox despite of having around 50 links. Any idea and suggestion?
nothing surprising about that... many report it can take a year, even longer to break out. Typically though I think its about 6-9 months.
Well thats too much to be patient for such a long period. However few peoples says that getting a listing in dmoz helps in coming aout of sandbox earlier but i personally donnt believe in this theory and moreover the biggest question is does a site gets added in dmoz these days. When u browse through the dmoz directories u will find many worst sites and even some of the sites which are not running at present but still exists in the directory. But these days its becoming more like a lottery. However i cannt understand that despite of so much refinement in google technology why donnt they eradicate this sandbox problem.

The sandbox is not a problem it's the google solution to some spam . Well may be but it effect adversly the optimized site and despite of building quality links you find your site nowhere for a longer period of time.
I think that these days sites are taking more time in sandbox thn they use to do in earlier days. Although many theories has been put forward stating that recent changes in google algo will eradicate the sandbox effect upto a great extent but the same thing continues.
Like so many other things having to do with SEO, you just have to do your thing and then don't think about it for a while. Eventually, big G will come around if you have a quality site. If not, well, them's the breaks. There are plenty of tricks that people are using out there to 'break out of the sandbox', but if you paid for all of them, you'd be broke. I'm sure there are things you can do to extend your sandbox time, and probably a few things you can do to shorten it. If a site can't survive without that key google ranking, then it probably can't survive. Everybody complaining about the sandbox will eventually be complaining about the inevitable change in algorithm. Sure it's important to pay attention to SEO, but at the same time, it's so much more important to pay attention to your visitors. You could be completely banned from all the search engines, but still pulling in a ton of traffic if people think your site is great. Time in the sandbox should be spent figuring out how you are going to maintain all those visitors once you are out of it. </end rant> I'm in the sandbox too. I hate thinking about it, but on the other hand, I have a lot of work to do on my site anyways.
I have a site in the sndbox now. I also had another one there... that site got a DMOZ listing before entering the sandbox, so DMOZ has nothing to do to prevent it from happening. Seems that 99% of the sites go into the sandbox after a few days/weeks of going live, so why even worry about it? I build my sites, forget about Google, and just focus on Yahoo and MSN. When Google finally lets me out the the sandbox, then I start focusing on it.
My site (see sig) is PR6 on the top page and is still in the sandbox after launching 6 months ago. (It was originally indexed by G in Sept last year I believe.) I would have thought it would be out by now, but although it poked it's head half-way out for a month or so, it has now disappeared completely from the G SERPs (although the subdomain is ranking well.) BTW, although it got in DMOZ in a couple of months, for some categories it could take you as long to get in their as it does to get out of the sandbox, lol.
Do you think Goggle Cares? I think it's a new rumor that you just invented, or maybe you should point us out where you go that information.
A friend of mine registered a site 6 months ago and it has been PR6 for a while. It does quite well in the SERP's at MSN ... but zippo at Google - my guess is that it is still sandboxed.
My freshwater aquarium fish site was in the box for about 8 months. It is now nine months old and I am just starting to get some decent traffic from Google. I did massive link building at the start then put that on hold for awhile and just worked on adding fresh content. One day I check and I am showing in Google. Thanks Google!
My site has just been listed on google after being ignored for the past few months. Is this the sandbox people keep referring to or is it something else I have to look forward to now that I've been listed?
You haven't provided enough information for anyone to possibly answer your question. 1. What is the URL of your site? 2. How old is it? 3. How competetive is the market niche that your site is in? 4. What keywords does it rank well for? 5. What is the history of your link building? Tell us some of this information and we might be able to venture a guess. Nobody knows for sure. We don't even know if there is a sandbox for sure.
Googlebot visited me awhile ago but never listed my site. Now google visits me and I get listed. Does google make some sort of note about my site the first time then comes back later to see if it's still there? Or was my site denied the first time for some other reason such as content or something. I know I've added a lot more to the site since the first time it was crawled. The thing I was wondering about whether or not the sandbox starts when your site is first crawled or when it's first listed? 1. luckyduct.net 2. The site was created sometime in april. 3. The market is for air duct cleaning in the denver area. There's probably a few dozen sites out there promoting the same thing. Nation wide the number must be in the hundreds. 4. I have to go by msn and yahoo for this but the keyword that get the best results is the name of the business Lucky Duct. I also get good results for furnace cleaning. The most competitive keyword would be air duct cleaning. I'm listed several pages back on that one. 5. I don't have a whole lot of links. I'm in one directory for local businesses and I have a few links from other businesses in my area.
