Exporting QuickBooks Data

I've been poking around Quickbooks, but I can't seem to figure this one out:

I need to export my customers email addresses, which I have listed under the "Alt Contact" field. Is there a way to pull QuickBooks info from one field?

What version of QuickBooks are you running? Pro, Enterprise, etc? Windows or Mac?

When I export addresses the alt field is included without doing anything special. I don't think there is a built in function that will export just the alt field, but you can parse out the rest after the export.

    I'm running QuickBooks Pro Mac.

I saw that the alt field was included when I exported the customer info, but I was hoping there was an easier way :).

In my perfect world, I could export any one field into an excel document...

get your brother to hack it, or to parse the export.

I do hear that the next version of QuickBooks Pro for Mac might support integration/sync with Apple's built in Address Book.app. That would be a welcome feature. :)

If you wanna do something custom in quickbooks, the only thing to do is sigh sadly and accept the grim reality that is quickbooks. I think your best bet is to print the customer database to a file (instead of to a printer) and import into excel or something, then get the field you want.

It really doesn't make much sense to me that Quickbooks can't perform simple tasks like this. Wouldn't it be common sense that you would want a collection of your customers email addresses? (Apparently not, since there isn't even a field for email addresses...haha)

quickbooks was originally designed for just book keeping. THen everyone started to try using to run businesses. I was always frustrated with the limited abilities it had, now they have really made some hug changes.

More often than not I can relate with vendors as to why you might want to leave "x" feature out... however in this case I agree with you. When I'm looking at an estimate or invoice for a client and I click the little email button the last thing I should have to do is fill out the email address. The Windows version of QuickBooks handles this better than the Mac version.
