why? why? why? because they want to? no seriously. it makes perfect sense why. Yahoo is a US company. Yahoo has more US advertisers than any other countries combined. Yahoo deals in US dollars. Yahoo deals with the US IRS. Yahoo doesnt want to send checks all over the world during their beta phase. Yahoo wants to have a small controlled localized test group.

YPN is a small branch of people at Yahoo. who remembers their group photo? YPN employees speak english. Advertisers want US traffic thats going to purchase. it may be 2007, but some companies still dont ship international or provide services to iraq. Since ypn is paying to publishers, there are tax laws to deal with. international tax laws are a pain in the ass because there are so many different countries. and, of course, my favorite... Its their company, its their product and thats how they want to do it.

It also means all the click fraud will be done by people in the US first, so they won't feel bad having to blame third world countries for their woes.

Worldwide markets combined are way bigger than US market are they not.

I don't believe that it's lack of resources that is preventing them from doing it. They have the resources.

I think they are pussies and maybe planning to pull the whole program, otherwise why would they let Google rake it in over the rest of the world.

cmon pussies release it worldwide and see if it stacks up.

Because they choose to. And it's all just speculation when things will be different.

It should certainly be opened up to places such as the UK, Canada etc.. I am confident these will be the first two locations that get it once BETA testing is over. ;)

BETA testing. They needed to test their system somewhere, so why not use something they know well there own demographic.

Its simple, effective way to test a product using what you know with a demographic you know.

    Yahoo is a big company.

In order to stand in front of google it should try to stand a bit.

In order to work internationally, it will have to make itself error free and better than google.

Its just working to do better than google.

It will soon be international and yes.. work better than google.

    Amen

It still has some kinks to work out. Once they incorporate all their knowledge and figure out their geo-targeting a bit better, they will be able to go head to head with other advertising networks.
