    Hi there!

Im might be moving to Australia this summer, so Im looking for Australia related sites.

Is there a australia webmaster forum? What is the best place to buy electronics? And what is the best site to meet and chat with australians? Any other popular sites I should know of?

Where do aussie webmaster play? :]

I'v gotta say that our main social community website is the same as the US, MySpace and properly the best place to shop online is the same as the US as well, eBay.

In regards to webmaster portals, there is none really - Australia is so behind with stuff like that compared to USA - just stay with DP, there's plenty of Aussie blood here and Cre8asite Forums is a fantastic place to stop by as well, and there are a few Aussie's there to.

The main news portal is properly NineMsn, which is also integrated Windows Live Search.

If you didn't know, we have 4 free to air telelvision stations - Channel 9, Channel 7 (their website is like NineMsn's, an internet portal in partnership with Yahoo) and Channel 10 and we also have one community channel, SBS.

    Hope that helps.:)

Thank you abc1234, that was a great reply :]

May I ask a few non-web related questions? I'm wondering where I should order my internet connection when I get there? I tried searching a few terms on Google, but the prices I got where so damn high (compared to Norway), and the bandwidth was limited. Is this normal in Australia?

    So am I!

For the Broadband, check out www.whirlpool.net.au - compare prices there and check out the forums for feedback on broadband companies. And yes, internet is comparitively very expensive here.

Compared to the rest of the world yes we have it pretty steep here in Australia but its not that bad, especially when the business pays for it. ;)

Thats fine, glad I can help.

In regards to broadband, you will find that Australia is way behind most parts of the world in regards to speed and price. At the moment we are seeing a bit of interest in this, with some well known business figures coming out saying that we need faster internet - It's about time someone said something!.

I'm with a telecommunications company called Optus, I think it is the 2nd or 3rd biggest in Australia - on one of there cable internet plans. It's pretty good but it is just normal ADSL internet on cable. There service is good and their connection is very reliable. If you need to call them for help your usually in line for between 10 and 20 minutes.

The fastest thing you will get in Australia, that is available to the public is ADSL2+ (correct me if I'm wrong other Aussies here) and I'm pretty sure Optus supply that service. I think properly the best place though if you wanted ADSL2+ is iiNet, and I've only heard good things about them.

Is there any other questions you might have? Feel free to ask.

    Cheers,

    abc1234:)

I've been with Optus for ages.

I've never had any problems with them.

You must have had a different experience with them.

    Cheers,
