You definitely want to get logs going on your site, else when google comes a knocking (not saying they will..) but you ought to be prepared in case they do!

Yeah, I told him to start a quick poll to ask his visitors where they are coming from, too. Don't know if he bothered with it. /shrug

It's obvious he got free advertising somewhere and people are typing in his site manually. That's the reason for blank referrers, not proxys, and channels won't help.

You're wrong. He wants to know where their visitors are coming from (from which sites), no what pages on his site are being visited.

    --------

A possible way could be using "document.referer" on a javascript function inside your page. Example: adding that as parameters for a hidden picture

Someone could have been spamming your site on a popular forum or just posting a link that was lucrative to people.

Sudden rise of clicks in single day, Its look abnormal to me, I suspect fraud clicks.

You are So paranoid ;) . I found the source. A conference of doctors :D.

BTW, removed adsense from the site. I am not too comfortable with blank referrer headers. Aaarghh the choices I have to make.

Could you PM me with the URL origin of traffic, to see why referer is blank ?
And a suggestion, you can replace your normal AdSense ads with Referral AdSense Ads (FireFox, Google Pack, ...).
Surely you'll get less clicks, but because that ads are on CPA basis instead of CPC, your income would be safer against Google fraud point of view

I don't think it would matter if you took Adsense off at this point. The money has already been earned, and Adsense will still audit you at the end of the month. I would recommend gathering up your logs in case they decide to ban you. Are we talking a sudden spike in the $100s (or $1000s) a day here because of the traffic?

Try installing Google analytics code on your site to track your visitors.

Bad, bad, BAD idea. Talking about "clicking" his ads in open public is the same as drawing attention to it. You never do that. EVER.

In any case, his problem isn't that he's getting too many clicks. As I read his post, his clicks are proportional to the rise in traffic. The problem is where his traffic is coming from (he has since learned the answer), so the only thing to do now is gather the evidence in case Adsense doesn't like those blank referrers.
