cool btw reason I am asking is cause I have seo clients asking me about who should design their sites, and I can´t always get the right designers to do the work needed. So please keep posting the ones that you like or your own work for everyone to see.

It depends on how you measure "best." I'm not the greatest visual designer, but I'm much more interested in visitor behavior than anything else. We made a site for a customer that paid back for itself less than two weeks after we launched it (through site-driven sales), and consistenly drives $xx,xxx sales per week, even though it's not an e-commerce site. We researched the market, we strategized ways to drive a quality audience, and we delivered a site that generates such high volume in sales leads, the business owner has had to hire new staff, and he has personally increased his weekly work schedule by 20-30 hours to accommodate his Web-driven growth and success.

So, if you're trying to determine who makes the prettiest, shiniest objects, that's one thing, and frankly, it's a pretty weak measurement of "best." But if you're measuring something that actually matters, like visitor response, you're not going to see that by looking at portfolios. Ask for case studies instead - there are others who have enjoyed this type of success and much more too.

As an SEO specialist, Mike, I expect you're familiar with using measurable results as a basis for determining success

 

i think balkanboy and collen does a pretty good job?, I got one design by colleen and it's great. Balkanboy is still under progress and he seems to know what's he doing.

you may be right and the one that got recommended by people.

 

Which is why I leave the creative part to others. To me a good design and structure is one that helps website owners reach their goals, create sales, generate leads etc. It´s good that you bring this up, because a lot of talented web designer don´t design with the search engines or the goal of the website owner in mind. The key is that the design needs to help you meet your needs. Some sites don´t really look good at all, but they are very efficient.
