It makes perfect sense to attempt to filter out affiliate pages. It's better for the searcher to receive a more diverse search result than 10 listings that are basically affiliate clones of one another.

That brings us right back to my post about "paid advertising". It all depends on your goals though.

I sort of agree up to a point, but if I use my site as an example I offer more than one product per category to choose from, anything from three to many similar products. so if someone is searching for an item it's a one stop shop.....similar to a supermarket shelf where you can pick which companies shampoo you buy.

Why should Google filter out those pages just because they are affiliate links.

That would be nice. Has anyone been able to figure out how to use one of the available sitemap generators on the bookstore? I've tried a couple of the tools without luck. It seems what's happening is that new pages are created when the bot hit the page and the script never completes.

Sagetips, exactly because the site is a never ending loop. It is a nice way to kill some bandwith too. But you will have mucho books in your store.

You'll eventually see that you'll have every amazon product in your bookstore at some point if you have a bot that crawls every single URL.

    FREEBS Critical Update Notification!

We are testing a critical update for FREEBS Amazon Book Store. After months of testing and building several huge databases, we have determined the necessity to optimize several queries in FREEBS Amazon Book Store.

There are also some key updates to the p3.php script used to update and populate the database.

Expect a release for tomorrow. The optimizations are very very important for the health of your server!

    Thanks

FREEBS - Free Book Store Support

Special thanks to Tim of A Small Orange Hosting for the assistance in solving this issue.

Because of the great user feedback we have recieved, we have been working hard on FREEBS Amazon Book Store to improve it and enhance it.

The result is FREEBS Amazon Book Store version 1.15.

The biggest asset being that we can still display any book on file with Amazon and sell it from our sites. However, the new additions to FREEBS enable that to happen without the database growing out of control and your FREEBS Book Store stays on topic.

Using the new version stock will ensure that we stay on topic and none of your already indexed pages in the search engines will be lost. Folks that still want the database to expand and go off topic still have that ability too.

The p3.php program now has output to tell you where it is while running too.

    FREEBS - Amazon Book Store

Thanks to Shawn and DigitalPoint for allowing us this space for giving FREEBS users a heads up on our progress.

From the first of this month my sites have gone from around 40 uniques a day that resulted on average in 3/4 orders per day (and building) down to under 5 uniques a day and very few sales :( .

According to the DP back link tracker for page count I have over 100k pages indexed but when I do a site: search it's less than a thousand.

Each site shows over 100k products listed in each Freebs store.

Just when I thought I was going to have excellent sales for Christmas Google went and pulled the plug  .

I still have about 55,000 pages in Google (with titles and description). But oddly almost no traffic from Google. On the other hand my 14,000 pages in Yahoo brings about 100 uniques a day.

I did have around 20k in Google, now up to around 55k with visitor numbers increasing every day....

I did a lot of template changing so that may have been a factor.

Mine is 20k pages indexed in google, less then 5 dozen in yahoo. Is PR5, and gets not much but still quite a bit of traffic from G. I did play with some on page data.
